| reply to Archivis Your only hope is a private tracker. The problem now (and indefinitely) is that with all of the successful takedowns recently (Oink & Demonoid being the biggest and most important) private trackers are going to be very difficult to get into because of obvious reasons. I belong to a few and since the two major trackers were taken down (one of course was voluntary) they don't even allow new members by invitation anymore, because of the fear.
It's a bleak future as it stands right now. |

It's a bleak future as it stands right now. It is bleak... I think private trackers are employing the wrong tactic by shutting down invites... All private trackers should unite & try to INCREASE membership...they should try to proliferate instead of bury their heads in the sand. Of course I know it's easy & convenient for me to say that as it's not my legal liability at stake, but if the interest is "saving" file sharing, then hiding out is the wrong way to go, IMO. |

All private trackers should unite & try to INCREASE membership...they should try to proliferate instead of bury their heads in the sand. Two (and these are just the two biggest ones) reasons why this isn't happening as much in the torrent community: Demonoid and OiNK. Both were large and prominent private trackers and got shut down by anti-piracy organizations like BREIN and the IFPI. Though Demonoid appears to be coming back.
Oddly enough, the most visible target, the Pirate Bay, is still alive and well (though it is a public tracker). -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot)
