| I hate to spoil your fun but running the fiber doesn't always mean that FiOS will be ready anytime soon.. Fiber was run in my town (Caldwell, NJ) in July 2007 and became available for home installation in early February 2008 so the fiber sat on the pole for 7 months before anything happened.. Could be different for you guys though |

| reply to Artec Fios is now available in alot of Middletown already. I live by the police station and they put the wires in the ground last march or so and it just became available mid-january. Great stuff but having some intermittent connectivity issues when gaming online. |

| reply to Artec I've see them installing the Fiber in your area recently, and my area on Kings Highway East more than 2 years ago. It wasn't until last month, when our community group approved the Verizon installation, that we were told that the availability should be by the end of 2008. |

| reply to Artec I agree with you.. I thought it was stupid too when they ran fiber in my town and then let it sit on the poles outside for 7 months.. They don't make money on it until people start signing up, so why take so long? Weird..
But you'll see once installation gets closer to being available you'll start seeing tons of FiOS trucks in your area just adding to your anticipation.. I even went over to my Comcast cable box and told it that its days were numbered (a little dramatic but I HATED Comcast) and then you'll get a glorious letter telling you it's available.. Then you sign up and see that beautiful box on the wall in your basement and witness the insanely fast interent and amazing TV and see that comcast cable get cut, makes it all worth it.. |

The had a huge spool sitting on Mills ave for about a week. I wish verizon would light up Port Monmouth. Comcast is driving me nuts. |

| I was speaking to a Verizon guy (who was out at my house fixing (yet again) a problem with my phone), and he said three months for FIOS in North Middletown. We'll see.
However, based on the 2-3 mailers I get from Comcast EACH DAY, I am guessing he isn't far off. Comcast is going all out to get customers prior to FIOS going live in the area.

| reply to winterstech Yeah, I'm getting a ton of comcast mailings. I got the dreaded over use call 3 months ago from comcast threatening me to stop using too much. I'm a computer technician and frequently fix pcs. I left a pc I was fixing plugged into my other network over thanksgiving weekend that was infected and apparently the thing was spewing 10's of thousands of emails. I guess I'm on their s*** list now. Got a call telling me I'd be terminated for 1 year if it happened again. I've been on their high speed internet for 8 years. So much for customer loyalty.
Needless to say, I can't wait to switch. The faster uploads will be insane for gaming and remote access. |

My modem was timing out 30 times per hour on average, and I had poor speeds. In order to download weather files I wanted, it would have to do it many times over to try to get 1 copy to complete. After they fixed it, I got a nasty phone call from them (you can't imagine), and even their corporate office did not care that their service malfunction had a lot to do with it. The details of what happened after that, I'll leave to myself, and the reports I filed. |
