Re: Embarq network congestion, latency and packet loss in IN

Well we finally had enough here in Indiana. After the last few weeks of having extremely slow days, and an entire day of NO service, we have officially dumped Embarq. We were still under contract, but the boss said he did not care what it cost get us off this crappy internet connection. Paid the $200 to cancel and I have signed up with Comcast Business. Hopefully they will be better that this. I am getting 16 MB down/2 MB up package with Comcast for the same price I was paying Embarq for 5MB package. Man, it is sure FAST!!! Includes a block of static IP's too!

So long Embarq. I still use them at home, but that may also be short lived.

Good luck to the rest of you who do not have alternatives!

My connection currently isn't too bad. It could be better (has been in the past), but I've also seen it a lot worse.

Unless your internet connection is faster than 10Mbps it shouldnt matter, the duplex is more important in this situation.

well here we go again with the low d/l speed....and the upload seems the same.

I think I'm going to call embarq and downgrade to the 3 mb package, I'm paying $5 more a month for the 5mb package...and obviously not getting it and its been this way for what? 3 months now....

do you have your router set to 10mbps or 100 mbps? when I reset my router to factory defaults it always sets it at 10...I have to go in and change it to 100....it should be set at 100, shouldnt it?

d/l spped is closer, upload isnt even close to what I should be getting, latency still high.

Embarq did send a tech over today, but I had about 30 mins notice they were coming and I couldnt get home in time for him to ck things out....
From what I have seen, it's looking as if you're getting better latency with the lower speeds. That could explain why I have the 3mb tier and neighbor has the 1.5mb. His latency is lower at the Embarq hops. Go figure.

Good morning all!
I would like to share with all of you some information related to our improvements and progress in Indiana.
We are aware that some of our broadband customers may have experienced degraded service recently. Due to tremendous broadband growth throughout the state, we needed to reroute and re-balanced data traffic onto other network facilities to alleviate congestion which may have affected some of our customers’ online experience. We recently made capacity and routing changes which have improved the overall Internet access performance. We will need to continue to make periodic changes to our network to accommodate the ongoing data and Internet access growth. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and want to ensure our customers that we are continuing network expansion to prevent future inconvenience.
If you are still experiencing the same issue please send me your phone number via email or private message only and i will be happy to help you!
Thanks

Well here we go again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is f'ing rediculous. 3 weeks of no issues and today it goes to hell. Getting less than dial up speeds. I have contacted 6 different Embarq customers in a 40 mile area here in Indiana and everyone is getting the same results!!! SLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

We, and several others, are businesses. This is just completely unacceptable. We are beginning the process of moving away from Embarq, fortunately we have an alternative, cost might be higher, but I bet it works all of the time, not just some of the time. You bet your a$$ I will tell everyone on Embarq to dump it if they want it work.

on phone with them now, they have no clue, say everything works fine...blah blah blah...SICK OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Embarq, if you read this you better get your act together. Next step is for governemnt intervention. Just ask Ameritech/SBC about how that goes. Their service was so bad that the state of Indiana put them on notice and required all kinds of crap from them...helped the customers, but we all know what happened to Ameritech...

So slow I can't even hardly get a post here...Jeez....

Is it possible that the problem with our Embarq service is whats causing my MTU problems? I'm at a loss on what to do or how to fix it, i tried running the google ping test and got down to 1442 and kept getting fragmented packets and server time outs...

The MTU in my router is set for 1492, I can still play on live but it fails the test, so its not working like its supposed to and I just cant live with that.

Called Embarq today and they informed me there is still an open ticket in our area for speed and latency issues, I said this has been going on for 2 months is it ever going to be fixed, we're working on it.....
