I also live in Plymouth IN and it's weird cause I have a 5meg connection and it seems around 1am until about 10am everything runs at like 5mb/s. But than the rest of the day I get barely 100-300 kb/s. This has been going on since Thursday night like you all have been reporting. Runing a Visual Trace route we are being run through one of two Ohio Servers on hop 3 and both have extremely high latency. They are 71.0.195.249 and 71.0.195.237. I'm going to run another trace in an hour or so when it seems speeds are back to normal...

Speeds are back to what they should be and it's really odd I am still being routed through the Ohio Server 71.0.195.249 but the high latency is ALL gone. So it's not network re-routing causing the latency. It just seems around 1AM the latency has been gone "magically" every night as if someone flipped a switch than in the morning it returns and is there all day. You can almost set a clock to it...

Yeah you noticed that yesterday before I went to bed. Now today before I got bed everything is fine. Maybe its some large server or something that shuts down at a certain time and then turns back on in the morning?

Well the latency was back to normal for a few hours this morning. Now it's back to over 200 ms. Still waiting...

Same here in Plymouth, back to the slow speeds as of about 10AM it really is like someone is flipping a switch during the day.

I still think it's related to traffic and usage. It's worse in the evenings and weekends (prime time for residential customers).

Also a lot of schools are out today due to Presidents' Day - more P2P traffic.

Here in Decatur IN, we are still SLOW!!! Getting about 128K down and 300K up. Odd thing is, this happened about a month ago, I noticed when my connection is slow I have a 76.X.X.X ip address. Normally I have a 71.X.X.X address, and that is when all is well. Seems to me the 76 network stinks and they need to get it fixed. Probably be another couple of days as a previous poster said, Presidents day is a holiday for them...

By the way, Embarq dropped their price on the 3.0 MB service, but you have to call them to get the cheaper price, save you another $5 a month!!

I talked with a representative today, and here's what i was just told...

Julian G.
I am sorry for the trouble you are having today . I will do everything I can to help you resolve your issues. How has your day been otherwise?
4:18:24 PM Julian G.
Thanks very much...please hold while I check on this - this might take a few minutes.

4:18:30 PM David H
alright.

4:19:34 PM Julian G.
I checked and apparently there is a network issue. Unfortunately there is no estimate time of repair as of yet...

4:19:55 PM David H
well this makes the 5th day of this lag, and its annoying as shit.
4:20:22 PM David H
Im paying for high speed internet, and im getting the type of internet given to those that use dial-up internet.

4:21:20 PM Julian G.
I do apologize for the network issues. The engineers are trying to resolve this as soon as possible. This issue was reported yesterday.
4:21:29 PM David H
That's a lie

4:21:42 PM David H
I talked to an agent on Friday, and THey were aware of this issue then.

4:21:56 PM David H
So why is it you guys are claiming that it was just reported yesterday?

4:22:20 PM Julian G.
Start Time 2/17/2008 3:40:00 PM

4:22:39 PM Julian G.
That is what is showing on the report.

4:22:41 PM David H
Wow, your offices are full of effin morons.

4:23:15 PM Julian G.
Normally the estimated time of repair would have been reported by now if it was Friday.

4:24:51 PM David H
Seriously, I talked to a person on friday, then i checked on saturday, and now im checking today-- Monday and your telling me it was just reported on Sunday... your company is full of stupid asses and you need better staffing.

4:25:40 PM System
Julian G. has left this session!
4:25:40 PM System
The session has ended!

Apparently they dont like it when you prove them wrong, I even offered them the transcripts from previous conversations.

Yeah. I have chatted with them since Thursday when it first started happening. They always say 24 to 48 hours. So I guess 24 to 48 hours = A week?

Well looks like they may be on to a fix. I just tested here at my office and we are now getting 4.8 MB. At home I am finally getting over 2 MB (supposed to get 3). That is a hell of a lot better than 128k!!!!!

Things looking up in Decatur IN.

My package is supposed to be 5000 d/l 768 up

I just ran 5 speed test and they ranged from 3500 d/l all the way down to 1700...hard to play online games like this

It is "consistantly" bad. Wish we had something other than Embarq and Longview Cable around here.

That's your connection being congested not Embarq. Notice the 1st real hop is where the latency is.

Looks like they've fixed the problem at the 71.0.195.249 tonight.
