 [Fixed] Clearwire Billing Tactics

Hi

I am writing because of my very unsavory experience with Clearwire. I initially sought Clearwires service in September of 2007. As promised I received a box with a Clearwire modem inside. I took it home and did everything necessary to set it up. After a grueling 15 minutes of waiting for a connection there was still nothing. I called Clearwire to report the problem and they sent a technician out to find a proper spot. The technician arrived and found that I received no service in any part of the house. He instructed me to give Clearwire a call and they would send me a shipping label. Upon receipt of the label I promptly returned the leased modem and didn't think twice about it until I received a service charge on my bank account. I called Clearwire and they stated that they could not cancel my service until the modem was returned. I let them know the modem had been sent out the month prior they insisted that they had not received it and refused to cancel the membership. I offered to pay for the modem so that they would stop billing my account. They charged my account for the modem and the early termination fee. I called them again and requested that they remove the early termination fee in the amount of $214.00 which they stated they would. A month later the fee had not been reversed and I was charged once again for service that I had never used. I called once again and had to explain that the early termination fee was supposed to be reversed and my contract terminated. They stated that they could not cancel the account until the modem was returned. I explained that I had already paid for the equipment and requested that my contract be terminated. Once again they assured me that my contract would be terminated and I should have no further billing issues. I checked my account three days later and not only did they not refund the early termination fee but they charged me another early termination fee of $194.00. I called again and they stated that they could refund the second early termination fee but not the first. For the sake of ending my relationship with Clearwire I agreed. As of today six months has passed and I have had to spend nearly an hour every month on the phone re-explaining the situation to Clearwire. Again this month on 02/15/2008 I have called Clearwire and once again had to request another refund. Again they have charged me an early termination fee. As of today I am officially out of $908.23 because of Clearwires ineptitude.

You spent almost a grand on service you never got?

Why didn't you put it all in writing and send it to Clearwire?

Why didn't you go to your bank and block charges from Clearwire?

Seems to me you are not being agressive enough. I would never toss $908.23 out the window needlessly. Get on the ball, start writing letters and get your money back.

All you have to do to understand this is look at who the CEO of ClearWire is and his previous CEO positions. Then you will understand.

You put that together with a Google partnership and I just got paranoid.

Well, I'm not going to research a CEO to tell some anonymous poster that they just screwed up royally by not having their credit card or bank handle the problem.

Josh apparently has no spine and just wanted to whine.

Actually I just had them refund all of the money. I reported them to the better business bureau and the better business bureau actually did something about it.

Besides since it was directly attached to my bank routing number I couldn't stop them through the bank or credit card. So before you start calling someone spineless you should think of other possibilities. So if I'm spineless then you're IQ is less than your shoe size.
