diplomat : I finally am back online after being down with the flu a couple weeks. That was a nasty one, but anyways, I did want to let you know something that I found out today from my cable company. I only have the basic service which is 320k speed, so after looking at what my speeds were when I ran the previous tests, they don't seem too bad compared to what my max can be. So unless I decide to pay for a faster speed, I won't go any further into checking anything else unless for some reason you think I should.

Thanks so much for your kindness and patience with me last month. I sure appreciate it. :D

Donna

[Cable] Tweak my connection? I am also new to forum

diplomat : I wanted to start by saying I'm new to this forum so that you'll bear with me because I do have the rules open in another window and hope to do everything you request.
I want to see if there is something I can do on my end to tweak the internet connection since I never took the time to do it after networking my 3 computers. The one I am typing this post with is WinXP and its networked by cable with a Win98SE desktop and also a laptop with a wireless network connection that has WinXP. I hardly use the Win98 puter except to experiment things with. I do have the 3 networked with a NETGEAR router and my internet connection is cable which is supposed to be 320Kbps/320Kbps.

Per rule #1, here is the URL:
»/tweakr/block:···a=normal

Per rule #2, the fastest of the 3 was 301/304 which was to Miami, 1003 miles from me.

Speak Easy site in Palo Alto was 295/304

For rule #3, I received this message & for the record, had my firewalls disabled:
sorry, 207.255.124.200 is not pingable from www.dslreports.com.

Please disable firewall ping protection.
-------------------
So my question is, are you able to help me do anything to improve my cable internet connection? Thanks so much for your time.

Donna :)
