Cool. Japan seems to be the world leader in high-speed mass transit.

Is the train for all lines (New Haven - GCT, Waterbury - GCT, Danbury - GCT); or just one of them?

It's for New Haven the cars will start to replace the old M2's that are in service now being strapped right now for not having enough cars on the New Haven line I doubt you will see any running on any other line until at least when another batch comes in.

You will not see those cars going to Danbury or Waterbury unless the two lines are electrified.
But there is still talk going on to re-wire the Danbury branch.

The Danbury branch was electrified with the wires coming down in 1961.
The M2 which first came on the property in 1972 replaced former NH MU's which the oldest dated to the 30s and the newest, the 50's.

That'll happen the week after they finish "Super 7" between Norwalk and Danbury!

It's not.

Back in 1974 my wife and I were looking at a nice house in Norwalk. It was perfect for us and had a good price. But the realtor said that she had to tell us that "Super 7" was going to run very close to the back yard.

Fast-forward 34 years and the small piece of what was finally built went nowhere near where the house stood. And the rest of it? Nowehere to be seen.

They are actually building another small piece from Brookfield towards New Milford.

But, back on topic, I'd love to see them electrify the Danbury branch. We suffer from having to run diesel locos because they are prohibited from Grand Central except for the very few thru-train commuter runs. Most trips change at Norwalk or Stamford. I think if we had full electric then the service might improve.

Call me nuts, but I fail to see how this will help with congestion. It seems more like one of those "feel good, low results, costs a mountain of money" schemes that our state is so good at proliferating.

I'm no transportation expert, but if you want to ease congestion..widen the roads...and install fully functioning drains before paving over said widening project.

We gave up a house to eminent domain in '59 for Super 7. It was a great idea. Up here on the MA border, MA had their part of 7 ready to go. Notice how wide 7 is as soon as it crosses the MA border northbound, and ready for a multi lane config.
Too bad we biffed it. Now it cost would eleventy seven bajillion, just to do the study - again.

My condolences to those who must travel bumper to bumper & stop and go from the bridge in New Milford to the Sound (less the Super 7 portion) -- The road time forgot

When, if ever, that the catenary is restored on the Danbury branch, most service will still terminate at Norwalk (in New Haven RR days, the station at Norwalk was called Norwalk & South Norwalk) like now and only rush hour trains will be thru service to GCT. Right now, the passenger count for non-rush hour service on the branch, does not justify thru service and will be looked at as wasting money when mainline service to and from New Haven can handle the passenger load during the non rush time frame.

I had a chance to check out the M8 mock car yesterday. It would be serving the New Haven - GCT line. The car reminded me of the Harlem or Hudson line cars
