Good and Not So Good

Well those prices are not going to make me want to give up my land line that's for certain. AT*T(formerly Bellsouth) has unlimited calling for $24.99 without Complete Choice and $23.99 with Complete Choice so these prices are not designed for those with cell phones wanting to replace their land lines. However, it does seem good for about anyone else that wants to be able to call anyone on any network at any time.

Can't pick up that POTS line and take it with you can you?

Also, what is the price of the POTS line BEFORE you add the $24 for Unlimited Calling. $50?

No, it's not portable, correct. But for us peeps who would like a cellphone for casual use, emergencies, can't rely on these companies since they think EVERYone will fall into their predetermined categories. And this is the reason why I still, in 2008, don't have a cell phone. I don't need one enough, at those prices, to subscribe. I'll suffer with messages on my landline and not having a portable 911 device until the prices are far, far lower for casual use.

Get a pre-paid cell phone. Then you make your own category.

I think that would be my category......

I shut down my $23/month unlimited land line over 3 years ago and moved my number to a T-mobile prepaid.
And use free internet phone for long talks locally and all long distance calls using a BT headset with a 40ft range at home and work.

After years of being forced to listening to people talk on their cell phone in public basically about nothing really important and realizing they are willing to pay more than $50-$150 or more per month to do it....and say it is a bargain....I figured that paying $100/year for 1k minutes with a unlocked quadband and using Skype for home and on a wifi pda free while traveling abroad made more sense.
AS well as keeping some Sprint shares for the dividends.
So I guess I communicate(cell, sim, video phone, email, myspace, text) to as many friends as anyone else as well as in over 40 countries.
But pay no more than $150/year to do it.
