shaffer001 : Thanks dcs166!! I was able to recable the DVD recorder and Home Theater. I have the STB ->TV via Component and then I have the STB's video out going to the Home Theater via composite. I have audio going from STB to home theater via composite. I then have The DVD recorder, Wii and STB (audio only) using the theater all via composite. Everything is working how I would have expected. Thanks again.

shaffer001 : I'm not sure about the down-conversion. The home theater has connections for composite VCR input/output. I thought I could just add the DVD recorder as if it was a VCR. I've got my Wii hooked into the composite DVD input and it works fine. I've bought component cables for the DVD and will try to rewire it using them instead of the composite cables and see what happens. Thanks.

dcs166 : often times, the home theater receivers only pass through the signal that they receive. So, if the input to the home theater is via component cables, then the output will only be via component cables. Are you sure your theater will do the down-conversion from component to composite?

-ds

shaffer001 : I purchased a DVD recorder to try and copy some items off my PatMedia DVR for long term storage. I can't seem to get the connections right. I can play a DVD but if I record from the DVR I get sound but no picture.

I have the DVR -> Home theater -> TV all via component connections. I have DVD recorder -> Home theater's VCR input & output via video/audio connections. When I record I set the Home theater to VCR and the DVD recorder to Input1. All I get is sound. Any help would be appreciated. :(
