Did Sprint screw up announcing this before finalizing anything. Or was this a calculated risk to see what others would charge then go in and undercut them.

| Sprint didn't officially announce anything...they've been testing an unlimited plan in certain markets, but that's about it.
So far, the Sprint plan does seem like the best one though...$120 for unlimited voice, messaging and high speed data.
T-Mo appears to be a close second...their is $100 for voice and messaging...and their data add-ons are currently $20, making the final price same as Sprint's, but T-Mo doesn't have 3G.
T and VZ are just gouging consumers, as always.
Helio is also a good deal...same as Sprint except $20 cheaper. Limited phone selection though. -- »PropertyMaps.com - Real-time, map based, nationwide MLS property search! |

| reply to dcurrey Yes they did screw up in announcing it. See how Verizon and ATT keep their prices identical, and move them around/change rates/minute buckets within a month of each other always. Its called collusion and price fixing, but you see that the govt turns the other way. I think the Sprint unlimited may have been on the wall, Boost Mobile was offering unlimited on CDMA in markets with Cricket/MetroPCS. |

1 edit | Re: Screw up,, NOPE smart move on Sprints part.
It was a tactical move to "force" the others to come up with "something". Now they know the gig "pricing" When Sprint comes out with there's one would hope that its MUCH better. Rock the boat via proxy .) Amazing what happens when you play the media to your benefit. Just shows how ATT as gloated as it is now, is still being run by ^^^^^^.

Sprint already offers unlimited plans, and has, for sometime now.. Their announcement was just the next step of testing the water.
The CEO of Sprint isn't an idiot. The quick moves of Verizon and AT&T are most likely exactly what he has planned all along. Like I said, in a few markets already, Sprint started offering a $99 unlimited plan which was far superior to what VZ and AT&T is offering.. $99 for unlimited voice/LD, texting, and mobile data, including nationwide 2-way direct connect.
So far, from what I've seen of VZ's plan, I'm not impressed. At this point, I'd not be surprised if Sprint doesn't roll their plans out even cheaper than $99 to invalidate the two others as "anything special"... |

| Superior in what? Not coverage or customer service. Sprints VS is in India for crying out loud. You drop calls everywhere. I don't know about your town but in Phoenix they are horrible! Verizon is quality and yes, you get what you pay for.
(Sprint)Wanna drive a FORD Fix Or Repair Daily
(Verizon Wireless)or a Mercedes.

| Wow.. where do I start?
For one, I never have received an Indian "VS" .. maybe they roll them over at times? Who knows.. they no longer offer 24 hour customer service either..
As for Superior, :: sigh :: PLEASE try, like so many don't, sticking to the topic and context at hand before hitting reply and posting. We're talking about the plans, are we not? I, and others were, at least.. were you? No. The plans that Sprint have for unlimited ARE superior in offering.
Finally.. please spare us the drop call argument, alright? It's well known that in anything wireless there are many points of weakness. For one, I've been in Phoenix and it's not horrible. Have you checked your handset lately? Maybe the towers you hit aren't good.. so is that a reason to damn the whole system nationwide?
Sprint and Nextel in my area, both, have good service. People will say that AT&T in the Twin Cities is excellent. I now have THREE phones on my belt.. a Sprint, Nextel, AND NOW an AT&T phone. While they claim "more bars"... my response is "where?"
The point is that I don't go crying that (as much as I despise anything at&T) their service is crap. What I can tell you is that in MY use, it doesn't work for me. Maybe the towers can't penetrate my home well. Maybe there is a terrain issue here. Maybe the LG handset that I spend $300 on is inferior. But, I'm not ignorant enough to say that at&t sucks.
You say that Verizon is a Mercedes.. I can easily find a dozen people that will disagree with you. Hell,I can find a dozen people by throwing darts in a crowd that will tell you that X company sucks.
I personally don't care for the at&t customer service quality. I can DEFINITELY tell you that I despise Verizon's lack of customer service.. and at the same time, I've had bad experiences with Sprint as well. But, I will tell you this much, when I had service problems in my home, Sprint was the ONLY provider to send a tech to the tower AND call me to ask if the service was stronger. I dunno.. maybe I call that a winner.. NO other cell provider in my time of having a phone since 1990 has EVER responded to a ticket for me.
If you honestly think that paying more for something is Quality... then why are you buying DirecTV and not Comcast in your area.. isn't comcast more expensive? Why do you have TelSyste Voip? Isn't Qwest more expensive? After all, you get what you pay for...
Think next time please.
(by the way.. your cute attempt to make comparisons only made you look weaker.. I happen to own Fords, never had problems, and the 1980's slam is way out dated.. but good try) |
