I wonder too, I contacted them a couple of weeks ago and they "said" they issued a trouble ticket, but obviously nothing has been done. If this hasn't cleared up by the 1st of April, I am going to contact them again, and see if I can get higher up the food chain.

Edit-Guzman, have you talked to or know anyone in Sonoma County with Comcast HSI? I am sure curious to know if they are having this slowdown too, if they're not, then I would bet it's something wrong at the CMTS in Ukiah and/or the connection from here to the CRAN at Windsor, because they and us both use that same CRAN to get to the main net in San Jose.

WOW, when I thought it couldn't go downhill anymore-

»/linequality/nil/2371106

That's the worst I've EVER seen on this connection, using the web is horrible tonight, pages timing out, loading halfway then quitting, pages loading like thick honey pouring in 30 below weather, somebody help!! I will contact Comcast again, though I doubt it'll do any good

Speed test-Warning, this is PATHETIC!

This is also the first time uploads have been affected, up until tonight only the downloads have been ruined, uploads stayed steady at 2600-2700.

You're not alone.

Getting pretty frustrated over here as well. Pages are timing out, loading in about 5 minutes if they do....

Maybe you and I need to get together and march down to the Ukiah office next week, I am tired of contacting the techs online and on the phone and nothing being done.

It's not just Ukiah. I'm in the bay area and my connection has almost completely shut down.

LQ test: »/linequality/5···/2371116

Speedtest.net gives me 22Mbps to the San Jose testing site, but won't even finish to any other location due to packet loss.

My connection was a tad flaky the last two nights, but nothing to complain about. Prior to this, I haven't had anything but great service for months.

VERY bad here tonight, first time in years I have ever had trouble. So, tonight it is not just you as I am 90 miles south of you and closer to the backbone.

It's bad in Woodside/Skyline up above Half Moon Bay. Upload tests are failing due to compression. Downloads usually top out near 20mbps this time of night, but I'm barely getting 200k when I can get the tests to complete. Traceroutes are taking a half hour and counting, and I'm up to 65 hops and lots of *** . Line quality test has been grinding away for over a half hour.

I've never seen it this bad. I just did Live Chat and they're supposedly sending a tech between 2 and 4 on Sunday, but I'm sure he/she won't find any problems with my setup. This is a regional network meltdown.

On the bright side, regional network meltdowns tend to get fixed a lot faster than small, isolated ones.

In San Jose and gettin terrible packet loss. Started around 11pm PST. Friends in Manteca(close to Stockton) are getting issues also.

And this post is taking very long to go through..

Seeing severe latency and packet loss in Santa Cruz.

Very frustrated this evening.

150ms to Comcast.net
150ms to Comcast.com

Seems like it's fixed already. Hopefully not a recurring problem.

This has been an ongoing problem for a couple of months up here, tonight is the worst night of all. The speeds start dropping sometime after noon, then don't start coming back up until after 11 PM or Midnight many times. I have a feeling our continuing problems are seperate from tonight's regional mess, at least it's looking that way.

I'm glad to find out it's larger than just Mendocino County, or the North Bay, not glad that it's happening but if it's this widespread hopefully something will get done quickly like ShadowDrgn mentioned.

Looking better here too, my uploads are back to normal, though downloads still have a little bit to go to get right-

We don't have BLAST up here yet, maybe this is related to their tweaking the network to roll it out across the North Bay Network (Mendocino County is part of it), at least I hope it's something minor like that.

I've been experiencing excessive timeouts for the last 12-18 hrs or so here in Santa Rosa. Doing a traceroute it appears I'm getting out of the Comcast network fine and the slowdown starts at a Level3 connection somewhere down south, LA I think it was.

It's interesting to note that I saw a thread here where they are having a very similar problem in the Philly/North Jersey area.

Is your problem recent, or has it been going on for a while? Our daily slowdown of downloads (roughtly Noon to Midnite) has been going on for a couple of months now up here. We're on the same CRAN as you (our connection goes from the CMTS in Ukiah to Windsor, where it hooks into the North Bay CRAN).

I just moved back to Ukiah from Lakeport and got my service hooked up yesterday. I'm having the same issue, works fine during the day but goes to crap at night. I got one speedtest on Speakeasy to go through last night out of about ten attempts, I think the downstream measurement was 417 Kbps. Here's two from today.

12:30 PM: Download Speed: 22039 kbps (2754.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2587 kbps (323.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

9:40 PM: Download Speed: 1864 kbps (233 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2331 kbps (291.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Megapath test from DSLReports test page:

I'm using an owned Motorola SB5101 hooked up to a Linksys WRT54GL v1.1 running DD-WRT v24 RC-6. Line signals are great though .
