| Cricket I've had unlimited wireless for years, at a price point about half of what Sprint is charging. My cell phone provider is still around, so they must not struggling too badly.
For about $65/mo, I get unlimited local, 500 mins LD, 100 mins roaming on Verizons network, and unlimited sms, pix, and data. Fits me perfectly, and costs about the same as a landline. No Brainer. -- »www.lp.org/issues/family-budget.shtml

What people aren't getting is that:
1) these plans aren't for everyone.
2) these plans are not for those "casual" users.
3) these plans are for those that want to expand their cell phone use and have no limits... possibly wanting to lose the land line all together.
4) these plans are for those that want true freedom.
5) if you took these plans, the "I don't even use that many minutes" point would drop for many. I can tell you that MANY people are cautious about HOW they use their phone based on their current plans now. If you only have 700 minutes, you're going to be careful. You're not going to socialize and visit on the phone as if you would with unlimited.
I have Nextel 300 national incoming. I HARDLY use any of my 300 minutes, but I use a butt load of incoming... why is that? because I KNOW that all my incoming minuted are free. I also paid to have my nights start at 6pm. If I had truly unlimited service, I'd spend more time on my cell phone than I would my land line as it would cut my cord.
Right now - however, I'm caution about my outbound use because I get 40 cents on the extra minutes. I think MANY people use their phone with in their plans which makes sense. I'd also bet that MANY people would increase their use of their cell phone if the bill was unlimited.
These new plans will likely get those people that are paying $79 a month for service already. $20 more a month for unlimited use.. for them, it should be a no brainer.
