Rebuttal to my review comment by IWLoneWolf

I'm glad that you absolutely LOVE Charter. I could change the statement that you left on my review around ever so slightly and it would apply to your review as well:

"Yep and just cause you have a good connection or good experience does not mean every Charter customer every where does ether ."

I don't think I have said that I expect Charter or any other ISP to be perfect. In fact, I don't believe that any company these days has GREAT service. I just happened to have experienced such horrible HSI service to go along with horrible customer service that my review reflects appropriately. If you look back at my original review, I was a VERY happy customer until the network took a dive here. Other than the horrid ordering and installation process, the service was terrific.

Either way, I have no desire or presumption to tell you how to feel about a service that you are getting. I would hope that you would not presume to chime in telling me how my opinion is wrong or near-sighted. 40+ phone calls, numerous emails, numerous tech visits later, numerous unfulfilled promises for credit, un-kept promises of a "supervisor" returning my call, my local office mysteriously closing one day without notice...my problems still exist. It's not that I have been rude on the phone, email, or chats with Charter. In fact, quite the contrary. In fact, the only REAL help I have received was from a (name withheld) Charter tech sending me an IM on this website. I worked customer service for a number of years before my current tech job and understand the value of a polite and patient customer.

Just for comparison sake, here is my most recent speed test at 12:21AM (Off-hours) on my 10/1 package:

From looking at your review you obviously have had a 100% opposite experience than I have. You have not had the misfortune to find even a little fault with Charter HSI service to date. I hope you enjoy your HSI from Charter and I'm honestly glad that someone on these forums has something positive to say about the company. Maybe your level of service is something that we all have to look forward to. Most of us come here looking for trouble resolution or to collaborate with other users in the area so that Charter doesn't try and fool the uninformed of us in to thinking that we are doing something wrong. I wish you the best of luck and I look forward to a spirited debate in the future with you.

Charter is really bad in California, i would be happy to get above 2mb during "rush hours" on my 10/1. or above 3MB after the "rush hours"

but when i first got it, i was getting full speed all the time also. that was about only a month ago.

Yes It looks like they have work to do to correct this .I know people all over the USA with most all the major provides and they have all had problems at one time or another. From packet loss, slow speeds dropped connections you name it. The fact is that my service works real well shows they can provide a great working Internet service it just takes good equipment and the on going working Techs to keep things working. The people I deal with are local and use the service themselves,so if there is a problem their service will be affected as well. The problem most will run into is the bigger the town or city you live in the more customers that you will compete with for bandwidth. The only real help you are going to get is going to be from a Charter tech, I found to that I had to do trace work myself to see were the problem was when dealing with my DSL.Knowing the issue was in their networked helped me direct them to the problem area it only takes one bad or overloaded node to cause you issues.A nother thing to do would be to also find other users in you neighborhood that use the same service and if they are having the same problems then have them contact provider as well. The more in a given area that speaks up the more likely it might be addressed.
Also try different test sites for download test overload test sites may not give you accurate speeds here is another link for speed tests »www.speakeasy.net/speedtest

Hope things get better for you guys soon.
