said by BryceS :You can also return the modem to a local Bell World store where all we need back is the modem and power supply. There seems to be constant debate on whether that's all BW stores or only company-owned ones or which phase the moon is at. Is there an authoritative answer?
Now suppose you return the modem to a BW and get the receipt. What happens when you get the mailing from Bell with the bar-coded sticker that identifies your modem? ISTM it is then a hassle to prove to Bell that you already returned that modem to BW and for Bell to then find it deep within the black hole of Progistix. I would rather wait for the mailing and do everything by the book. I have already had more hassles from the Bell bureaucracy than I can bear.
said by d3ath :another question, give tsi 5-7 business day before cancel date with bell? What I actually posted was "wait until 5 to 7 business days before your cancellation with Bell is effective before you sign up with TSI." IOW after you give Bell 30 days notice, you can wait 23 to 25 days before you sign up with TSI if you do not want to pay for the same line twice for a month. In any case you will need to pay twice for the 5-7 days if you want any hope of not getting your line card pulled. |

Ignore the shipping package.
When you do the return via a Bell World store we tell Sympatico that modem X with MAC Address X is in our hands and out of the customers. |

| reply to d3ath Just to point out something:
If a store can setup a ExpressVu, Sympatico, or Bell Canada account then they have access to the tool to do a modem return.
It may just be a store policy (each store is allowed to set their own policies whether corporate owned or not) to not accept modems. -- BCE and it's subsidiaries, Bell Canada, Bell Mobility, Bell ExpressVu, and Bell Sympatico are in no way responsible for my posts made in this forum. |

I am sure you are sincere and that if I returned my modems to your store they would be handled properly. It is just that I have had so many bad experiences with Bell ineptitude in the past year or so that I would rather do everything by the book. But if I could return my modems directly to Kevin Crull, in part to demonstrate my general distrust of the organisation he leads, I would. |

(I get my invoice by e-mail as a PDF attachment but they charge my credit card automatically.) |

| reply to d3ath You most certainly can print your e-bill and bring it to the bank to pay. It will have your account # and it can be paid just like any of your other bills. Why do I know this, because, last week, I called TekSavvy to asked a few questions and this was one of the questions I asked. And the answer I received that it CAN be paid at your financial banking institute. |

1 edit | said by d3ath :so I say I want a payment method of bill sent to e-mail and pay at my financial banking institute Absolutely correct. You won't get a hard copy of your bill in regular mail, though. It's only through email that you will receive an e-bill. Most companies are resorting to this method (1) It saves money, (2) saves the environment. Primus Canada charges 50 cents if you want a hard copy of your bill sent via Canada Post; free for e-bill. |

| Well I'll be @#$%ed. It never occurred to me that TSI would be in TD/CT's system, but for a lark I just tried. I went to Add a Payee, typed in TekS and lo and behold, the system found "TEKSAVVY SOLUTIONS INC." Cool! But in any case, I pay by credit card so it does not affect me. |

RBC, CT/TD, CIBC, Scotia Bank, BMO, President's Choice (and all like those... Believe they're CT extensions).... Also have a large portion of the Credit Unions, including Desjardin. I'd say, try and so long as it's not a really obscure Financial Institution, we should be there!

| reply to d3ath You can authorize Teksavvy to automatically debit your bank acount. You give them the information on your cheques (bank, transit account number). This is not the same as debit cards or credit cards.
You have to make sure you have sufficient funds in your account on the day your invoices ate produced. |

1 edit | reply to nanook I was the one posting under the nick "soon with tsi" above...
I took nanook's advice and emailed kevin crull this weekend with the details of my call. Yesterday someone from his office (éric b.) left a message on my answering machine. I could never talk to him directly (i come late home), but eventually he left another message saying that indeed the 30 days notice was required even if I'm not on contract.
I also inferred (maybe wrongly) from his message that I should call and try again with the regular procedure and cancellation phone number, which I did today. This time, the rep I got confirmed the 30 days notice. I told her about the rep who said the contrary last Friday, but she couldn't say much about the guy's behavior. I didn't tell her about my call with the higher offices; maybe she's just more competent; or maybe they all got a memo...
So I did give the 30 days notice. Upon asking she gave me the cancellation number, and also here name and employee # when I wanted them for an eventual follow up (whatever that would be good for).
She was courteous, definitely not annoying and she didn't try to put obstacles in the process. I hope this will be representative of how this will end in a month...
She did ask me why I wanted to leave. When I mentioned the P2P throttling she gave a quite unconvinced (scripted?) reply that "all others" were doing the same; she didn't seem an argumentative person, and I just said a quick "uh..." before proceeding to other questions. The question never came up again (I guess I'll receive a special call from one of their tele-marketing reps).
I finally called back éric b from kcrull's office and left a message thanking him for his help (and left him my cancellation number just in case...)
Also thanks to nanook and others on this board for the help! |
