What is Verizon doing to compete with Cablevisions News12? Are they planning a local network? This is the only thing keeping me from switching right now. I hate Cablevision!

Re: [northeast] Fios TV

They have something called FiOS1 which is a local news stations they said would roll out in various markets, but for now it's only in one area. Who knows when it will get more widespread

The metro traffic/weather that CV provided was something my wife really missed when we moved. There's a similar weather channel but not the same.

Personally, I am in Comcast country and I hope FiOS does nothing to compete with Comcast's CN8 or the like. It will only increase the cost for something that I will never watch.

Just use the widgets for traffic and weather and tell your wife "look honey no pixelizing on the tv " of course do it nicely or u may pay for it.
My wife said the same thing about ch 12 but since i control all tv web etc in the house she had not much say in the end but she has commented on the improved guide & pic quality since dumping CV and she loves the stupid widget thing alot.

I had CV for ever and I dont miss them at all!
