Re: Broadband Growth Continues To Slow

said by BF69:

Well let's see

"a larger culprit is the fact that people in areas where broadband is offered have already signed up for service"

So maybe at&t should try to bring broadband to areas that don't curently have it, but DO have at&t phone service.

At least 95% of my county is served by at&t maybe 1/3 have access to their DSL. So there's a boatload of potential customers waiting to give at&t thier money. At&t must hate money.
I know what you mean!

I have their POTS, since of course anywhere you live there's only one choice for POTS.

But, since I don't have their DSL, I'm obviously not paying them for that. If I could get it, I'd sign up very quickly. Right now, I'm using Charter because I have to, not because I want to.

·Verizon Broadban..

Growth slowing down? Gee, I guess expanding to what i'm gonna call not so quite rural areas is outta the question? I feel no pitty for people that refuse to provide service to those that would appreciate it but are continued to be ignored.

(( know it all cool pro phone/cable dude that lives in city, don't bother with the move to city comment.. I hear even in city's theres underserved places so ;-p ))

City dwellers don't understand that having the MILLIONS of people that live in the "boonies" moving to the cities would NOT be such a good idea for thier quality of life. While that may relive them from having subsidize broadband build out, but they fail to understand they extra taxes that would be need for increased infrustructure to support the massive increase in population.

Not to mention if people in the boonies moved to the city and all got broadband then more than likely those city dwellers internet speed would be reduced because of the increaed number of people all using the same pipe.
