1 edit | Just Cancelled one of my Vonage lines - no issues Just thought I would add my 2 cents to this issue...
I have been a Vonage customer for 5 years or so.. I have had as many as 4 lines.
I just called customer Service (well actually yesterday afternoon)to turn off one of the lines I dont need. The account rep was polite and told me about the cancellation fee. I asked to speak to her supervisor. On hold for about 3 minutes - I explained to the supervisor why I was cancelling. He waived the fee and offered me a free month on one of my other lines for the trouble.
A very professionally handled call on both sides (mine and theirs) yeilded very acceptable results.
I would bet that a large number of the mis=handled terminations we read about are just that - mis-handled. Either by a poor customer service rep or an Irate customer.
Anyway - down to just 2 lines now and still saving a ton of money over cable or POTS.... Gotta love it |

1 edit | Its funny how quick folks jump on a thread like "I tried to cancell and vonage kidnapped my kids" but when someone posts how easy it really is - no one responds.
Could this be that like ANY customer facing buisness, the MAJORITY of customer service experiences are positive and there are a small minority of problems. Seems the small minority are the most vocal - I suppose thats with anything - politics, buisness, relationships, etc
Actually - its pretty funny.... It makes me think back to when I called my telco to cancel my POTS line several years ago. They made it VERY difficult to cancel - even tried FEAR (no 911). In the end - the truth usually prevails |

 | reply to dellsweig Since nobody has replied...
When I canceled my two Vonage lines a while back, I had absolutely no problems from CS - took all of 5 minutes for each line. Both accounts were current and both were outside the period where termination fees would apply. Matter of fact, they didn't even care if I sent the equipment back - equipment originally provided by them.
Sure, that was then and this is now, but...
Just like the threads I see constantly concerning ViaTalk, it's much more 'fun' to pile on a slam thread then a atta-boy thread. -- 3500/512 5.7 GHz Motorola Canopy Wireless; FoxValley.net "Peace through superior firepower" |

 | reply to dellsweig A good friend of mine used to subscribe to Vonage. I asked him if his cancellation attempt yielded any of the horror stories that I have read about numerous times. He said absolutely not. They processed the cancellation according to his wishes and never charged his account again. He did sign up before they added cancellation charges though. Also, he had to buy his adapter outright when he signed up. |

 | reply to dellsweig Hmmmmm, sometimes I wonder why, no matter how well Vonage work for the majority of us, the only stories that get attention are the negative ones. Personally, I've had nothing but love for Vonage. I know that it's CEO is shady but personally I think that about everything the phone companies do is twice as shady. It's kind of a bummer that they were holding onto all of these patents for all this time instead of using them to lower their customer's prices and only pull them out to sue competition. Now they are just using this forum to spread their crap. Honestly, I always consider that anyone can post in this forum and disregard over half of the negative things posted as phone company plants. -- Vonage user since Mar 2004. |
