Question about DIR-655 and Broadcom Interoperability

I have two wireless machines, one with Broadcom Wireless G (Buffalo WHR-HP-G54) and one with Dell Draft N Wireless card (also Broadcom Based. Will the DIR-655, which is Atheros, connect and work well with these chipsets on my other machines?

Thanks

Bob

I have had the following experience with Broadcom/DIR-655:

HP laptop with (DV6627ca) Vista Home Premium 32 bit Broadcom with wireless draft N: Constant connection problems.
HP Laptop (DV9635ca) Vista Ultimate 64 bit with Broadcom wireless G: Excellent flawless connection.

I have 3 other Pc's which are all wireless N but D-Link models and they work perfectly, so the Router doesn't seem to be at fault.

Hope this helps.

Just a quick question. Are you letting Windows Vista connect to the internet, or are you using HP software? I found that most of my connection issues with the Dell Draft N card were due to the Dell software. So, at this point, I have very few disconnects with Windows XP doing the connection. Just removed the Dell software and got an improvement. However, my current router is slowly dying. It is a Buffalo High power G...about three years old.

Well...decided to inquire. Called D-Link. Consensus there is that NO card I have will log on at any faster than G speed...which is what I already have. Looks like if I am going to get full value out of my Dell Draft N card, I am going to have to go with Broadcom. Now will have to check into who manufactures Broadcom based N routers. Linksys is one...but reviews are awful!
