| (WARNING) Logitech Control center
Just had a pop-up update notification for Logitech control center. I applied the update and then restarted. My complete Leopard install is hosed. All I got was the flashing disc folder icon upon restart. When I used the install disc I was able to select Leopard but my computer would freeze upon startup. I tried to repair permissions but keeps freezing. I am now giving Time Machine it's first workout. Hopefully I can revert to yesterday! |

| Lots of folks have problems with the LCC update. After I installed it, I kept getting these alerts in Console:
12/27/07 12:04:36 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.dyld) Throttling respawn: Will start in 60 seconds
I was advised to remove the LCC and replace it with Steer Mouse, which I did, and the problems disappeared.
Check Console and see if you are getting any of these Throttling respawn notifications

1 edit | reply to Gunni I cannot do anything with my computer. It just freezes upon startup. All I can do is start it from the installer disc. I am currently using time machine to restore it to yesterday. Hopefully that will work fine. It just seems like it may take forever to complete this. It has been "erasing restore volume" for about 45 minutes now.
I just read that a restore could take upwards of four hours. It looks like Time Machine puts the display to sleep after 10 minutes or so. Just going to go to work and let it perform it's magic. |

| reply to northutica I uninstalled LCC last year after having various issues with certain LCC versions and getting tired of playing LCC roulette every time a new Tiger point release came out.
Both Steer Mouse and USB Overdrive work well for me with the two Logitech MX-1000 we have in the house. |

Both Steer Mouse and USB Overdrive work well for me with the two Logitech MX-1000 we have in the house. I did the same thing! LCC is terrible software; it kept crashing on me whenever I changed one or two settings for my MX Revolution.
I had USBOverdrive, so I installed that and was able to control most functions of the mouse. I then purchased SteerMouse, and I was able to control ALL functions of the mouse. I definitely recommend SteerMouse.

| reply to northutica I dumped it too. I actually took my MX (I love the MX keyboard and mouse) stuff away from the Mac. I just ended buying the new Apple keyboard and a wireless Mighty mouse and really have enjoyed once I got used to it. -- "There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots" |

| reply to northutica Well......It looks like Time Machine saved me from a lot of work. When I returned home from work last night my display was asleep and when I woke it up it said it was still erasing destination disc. I was sick but as soon as I restarted and tried it again it started restoring and about an hour later I had a perfect running system once again. |

| reply to northutica LCC installs Unsanity's Aplication Enhancer utility as a part of its' install process. This not only violating common courtesy by installing an application (in addition to the one you THINK you're installing) without informing you of the fact, but also installing it in a location (/System/Library/SystemConfiguration/) that Apple's Developer guidelines quite specifically state should NOT be used by 3rd party developers. This results in a range of probs from odd, intermittent System instabilities to full on hose-outs. Very bad show, Logitech! -- Always keep your pants & your gun where you can find them in the dark |
