grumpy3b : Hey, I have my issues with Skype/eBay as much as the next guy...but I save $1000s every year with Skype. I spend what is it $36/yr for SkypePro now then I pay $24/yr for each Skype in number...and that is ALL I PAY...I have three Skype in numbers around the US so friends and family members can call me free from their landlines and I can make all the calls I want w/o charge.

The entire package I use costs me about $100/yr. I have Millenicom EVDO Mobile Broadband for $50/mo so no need for a cell phone as anywhere there is Sprint service I'll find MBB and can call out using my Nokia N800 via my Cradlepoint router and Franklin USB EVDO modem.

But the Skype deal does not suck. Sure there are other free or seemingly free real VoIP solutions but then you run into the tech issues of jitter and what not which for MBB can be a killer.

And thanks to the CTR350 router I can use my laptop for web browsing or whatever AND AT THE SAME TIME use the internet tablet for the phone call.

Nope, I can complain about a lot of the changes since eBay bought them, but the price is fine where it is right now. I mean I use it daily for hours and want them to stay in business so a small amount of cash from me is fine...I see direct value from that investment. Plus if you are smart it's deductible anyway so who cares?

BUT I worry if form holds true eBay will keep rising prices as the service becomes more invasive and ubiquitous...that will not work for me. We'll see how things go with the new CEO...
--
Using Millenicom?
