Tech Support needed

I'm begging for some assistance. Is there any chance we can get some explanation for the problems gamers have been having. There are several posts in this forum and we all seem to have the same issues. I know I have been out $100.00 on a new Modem and Router the techs told me would solve my problems and I think 2 others posted similar stories and apparently this is not the issue. Not to mention the monthly bills that we get. Please help ...

Re: Suddenlink Tech Support

Hi Altered! I definitely want to help you with this issue.

To get to the root of your issue, I will need your MAC Address. Please send that to me in a PM and I will take a look. Please also outline exactly what your issue is and when you are experiencing it.

Thank you and I look forward to resolving your problem

PM sent.
This IP is to a game server that I have played on for a long time. 72.37.228.55 I have had great speeds and no issues with latency. Right before Christmas I had started getting packet loss randomly. It continually got worse until I lost all internet. Working with tech we finally got the packet loss down to a random 2 here and there. About 1 month ago I went to my server that I always have a 65 to 80 ping in and it was double. Steady as can be in the 150s. Well thats not any good so I have been doing tracert scans and here is one from the other night. This one is a little worse than the average but they are always bad. The times I am usually on is usually busy times from 5pm to 12 midnight Central time. Time of day does not change it though from what I see its bad as far as gaming is concerned 24/7 for at least a month or 2. I dont know what happened but something was changed somewhere from what I can tell as the ping has stayed stuck on the 150s just like someone threw a light switch. The last techs I have gotten , not to be rude, but they were useless. Very friendly but other than the scripted fixes they were no help. Thank you for taking time to look into this.

Altered,

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out for you!

I'm no expert, but to me it appears that the issues with gaming are within SL and more especially the backbone they have us all on. We are all getting about the same P/L on line quality tests in this area. Below is mine from 1/26/08, and obviously is good.

»/linequality/nil/2341233

This is a current one, with results being always close to the same, regardless on time of day. Ran at 2/12/08 during peak at 7:51 P.M. Notice not only the heavy P/L but the massive increase in latency.

»/linequality/nil/2349064

This one is from 2/12/08 at 7:30 A.M., and although the latency is somewhat better, the P/L is still a killer!

»/linequality/nil/2351313

I did notice on your trace you are going through Tyler, which I do as well, although a lot sooner than you do. So to me it appears maybe the P/L issue is happening in Tyler, and the latency is overloaded backbones during peak. But I do hope they get it resolved!!

I feel you're pain man I have been getting crappy connection for a while now but here is the kicker it only starts after 5PM to like 10PM. after that all is good it's just those 5 hours..... the best ones though. it started like month ago I thought it would go away but no go still bad.

MY best today.

Called tech support but they could do nothing they just said they will send a guy out on Friday. I don't think that will do any good though.

Re: Tech Support needed

We've had similar problems like this in Lubbock. I've been getting 90 plus pings to DALLAS servers that I used to get 35 on. And you are right. Most of time the guys come to my place they do little except tell me that there is no problem with my equipment (information I already knew) and that the problem is further up the line. After that I seldom hear from them again. It has been very frustrating here.

We all have similar issues. I've had them at my Lindale account, as described above. Below is a line quality test I did from my Tyler account on 3/5 during the day with the same issue, although the P/L is not quite as high. Still seems like something system wide to me...

To anyone else in this forum that may need assistance with their Suddenlink Services.

You can send a PM to either me or "SL Support" and we would be more than happy to research your issue.

Cindy has been working diligently to get to the bottom of my issues. I have been seeing more erratic speeds testing here so I have been testing elsewhere to get a better understanding or comparison. Dallas and Ft Worth the closest major cities so that is where I am testing.

As you can see it really didn't matter where you went to get the test run the speeds are inconsistent. My tracert have been looking better until they get off of the SL ips so maybe things are getting better.
Cindy brought it to my attention how long this had actually been going on based on her looking at my test history. Based on the work she has done researching my account and the discussions we have had I feel she is serious about getting the problem resolved.

Well I know exactly how you feel. I wanted to update what has been going on. Cindy has had 2 techs come out. The first one replaced the entire cable from where it started at my house to my modem. That did absolutely nothing to help my issues from what I could tell. But the new cable looks much better. I let Cindy know and she did her magic and had another come out. This guy really seemed to know his business. He asked me questions to evaluate exactly what I was having issues with. Then he did some tests etc of his own. Cindy had told me to show him my test history here and I did. He looked it over like he really was interested in where the problem might be. He then explained to me that in my town they had so many nodes and they had started to have to split them because they were filling up. He said he was going to check into it and see what he could do. That was Monday. Tuesday I actually gamed a little and my speeds actually started to seem to be more consistent. Let me say It has not been totally resolved but it is much better. I still have issues and will be contacting Cindy tomorrow to see what we can do to work on the remaining issues as seen in the link here.

Well hopefully she can help me out to this is getting downright nuts skype sounds like im at a daft punk concert and WoW plays at a constant 400ms ranging to 700ms.

I know its not my cable ive had techs come look at my line as well the signals are really good my cable modem is no farther than 7ft from the Cable Termnal outside my home. Hopefully we can get this resolved.

Along with this problems im starting to get mad since I have the VoIP service and callers keep getting "circuts busy" signals.

I have Vonage and mine was not that bad but it made it cut out some. I believe it was caused by my internet provider but I have no proof. I just know my internet was junk and is still not right yet but I do have some improvement. I told Vonage and they credited my account for a month.

Re: Suddenlink Tech Support

I believe finger2208 and I are suffering from something similar. Our line quality tests are showing identical low and medium bandwidth stream results 70% and 83% loss respectively.
Here is mine »/linequality/nil/2361843
Here is Finger2208 »/linequality/nil/2351313
The Rcv is 0 on the host right before it hits our addresses. That is very very coincidental. I wish I knew more about this stuff but I am learning. Can anyone explain how this line quality test works? It says If you are HAVING TROUBLE with your broadband connection, and it relates to packet loss, excessive latency, or internet or ISP congestion, this test may help find the cause. But it doesn't give a IP where it fails. Also how does it determine what your min latency should be? Before I started having issues mine ran in the 60ms range but it is well into the 140+ range now constantly.

Thanks

I think CindyB is working as hard as she can to resolve this issue.

I do believe some of the issues are within the SL network though. My above LQ test was from my Lindale account, which travels through Mineola then Tyler. Altered and I have the same results on the low and medium bandwidth streams. The LQ test below is from my Tyler account. Although the low and medium bandwidth streams are still messy, they are better than the Lindale to Tyler or the Paris to Tyler then out routes. So something is obviously happening between us and Tyler. But still in Tyler there are issues.

I think CindyB is doing all she can to help out here, so maybe patience is the virtue....let's see what she can come up with!
