I don't normally use Comcast but am on vacation visiting family. I run an FTP server on my computer at home and connect remotely to it as well. My connection at home is 10Mbps/1Mbps.
I have tried several times since I have been here to upload a 5GB hard drive image file to my computer at home. Comcast starts it out at a 1Mbps upload speed but it mysteriously drops down to about 300 Kbps after a few minutes. This has happened every time I've tried, and it has happened both via my FTP server and Remote Desktop.
Given all the new about Comcast's supposed upstream throttling I couldn't help but wonder it this issue of mine is related as well.

Don't know what you're using for your FTP client, but that could be the problem.
I recently tried uploading a fairly large file (~35 MB IIRC) via FTP just using the client built into Windows, and it kept slowing down until it timed out altogether.
Then I tried with Filezilla and it worked just fine.
I tried both the WinXP Pro client and CuteFTP Pro as well. The server is WarFTPd though - I concede it could be part or all of the problem, but this sure raised a red flag for me...
