if you are sending a file out to another machine at max speed, then you can overload your lines upload capability and kill the DSL. what happens is that you are sending so much data so fast that you cannot handshake anymore.

if this problem occurs only on download, you GETTING a file from elsewhere, then you have another issue.

how long has this been up and running before the problems started?

have you pulled your line stats yet?

This problem started on Monday.

I just noticed something.  In the past when I looked into the Netopia router it said "Downstream" 2400.  But right now I checked and it is reading 6016.  Wow, what a difference!  Is the phone company being nice to us?????

You ask if I had checked the line stats.  I am not sure what the means.  Maybe you mean the speed, which I just wrote about.
