Do u by chance have a router???
That's important to know, as well try plugging direct (if you have a router) and running the test - reset the modem in case your modem has an assigned mac memory of only 1. (which in the firmware some ISPs do..)

Ok, so I figured it out - my modem was not set up to accept incoming pings, so I just changed the setting to accept incoming pings.

I don't really know exactly what was causing the slow connection speed, but I called tech support everyday for a week, and I got different answers every day I called. In the end, the tech helped me bridge my connection, and ever since them I've had no problems. I'm currently getting great speeds.

btw, thanks for the reply, BettyPuddle!
