It is not like they send divers down to lay the cable. It's spooled off the rear deck of a huge trolling ship, much like you see telco trucks towing spools of telephone bundles. It's left to sink on its own to the bottom of the sea to lay on the ocean floor. They only guide where it falls and let gravity and the fishies do the rest.  -- The RIAA killed my legal webcast.
