Re: Getting connected with Bell

If you check my post, you will see that I am not just getting internet but also satellite tv and phone service bundled. I am doing this for a couple of reasons. First, the bundle will cost me $40.00 less a month than what I am currently paying and second, I am frustrated with my cogeco internet. They started enforcing bandwidth caps last fall, which left me with a decision to make. I could either change my plan or leave Cogeco. I opted to get a commercial account which would let me use 200 gig a month instead of 100 gig on the previous plan. The new plan was supposed to give me the same service of 16/1 meg connect.
As time has went on my bandwidth has dropped significantly during the evening to 1-2 meg downstream.
I believe it is a node issue and it is not going to change any time soon. On top of this I have basic cable tv service which is terrible. I have several channels which come in poorly and I am not getting the full use of my new LCD TV. I understand that Sympatico is also enforcing the caps but I am paying the $35.00 extra for unlimited.

I guess I'll see how things go.

It should only be $25 extra for unlimited.

In another thread on this forum it was announced that Bell is completely eliminating unlimited bandwidth so they can charge you for every gig you go beyond the 60 gig cap. If you check the Bell.ca site you'll see that the unlimited option has already been removed, you can only buy an extra 30 gigs for an additional $10/month.

The Unlimited option is to longer be advertising but customers can still get if they ask for it, as per Bell's new policy.

It wouldn't be the first time Bell said one thing and did the exact opposite. Unless you get it in writing I wouldn't trust anything a customer service rep says, it always comes back to bite the customer in the end.

Even if you get it in writing you can't trust what they say. Search for both what the Bell ombudsman wrote about the cross border outsourced Hotmail service, and search for Bell's email about how everyone will be informed, and given notice, and given an opt-out on change of bandwidth policy and throttling.

So no. Even if its in writing Bell is a company that goes back on its word and is untrustworthy.
