Generally you shouldnt run 2 Firewall / Antivirus / Anti-Spyware applications in the same time (AV and AntiSpy apps with active realtime protection I mean). This usually leads to some kind of conflict (BSOD, unable to log into Windows etc..). Also disabling some application doesnt have to help because the app. drivers causing the conflict are still present on the PC. Whether to keep ZA suite or not I won't advice you, it is up to you (However you can combine ZA Firewall with AVG without FW and so..)
So should I disable the SDHelper in SpyBot if I'm using AVG AV 8.0? Just curious...I have not noticed any ill effects yet while running the two of them together.

Thanks for the info, however, I was using just ZA firewall w/o anti-virus and AVG anti-virus only. I think I will uninstall AVG and give the ZA suite a try, since my AVG license is expiring soon.

Finger2208> There are exceptions which arent in conflict for example I know that Spybot isnt in conflict with AVG IS, same for Ad-aware. If you do not encounter any problems you can let it be, but if some problem appears (doesnt have to appear immediately) it should be one of the first things to check out.

Btw Firewall applications are probably in conflict every time.

I actually started running into small issues, mainly with some occasional surfing speed, and after scanning with AVG it would remove some immunities in SpyBot. So I un-immunized SpyBot, and now things are great!

I did some heavy surfing and then scanned with SpyBot, and it found nothing. So I'll leave it as is for now, as my surfing now using AVG is faster than when I used the SpyBot immunity. I really like the new AVG AV!

I agree with TeMerc on this crap
why in the world a security program company
who can pay their bills without adding this disgusting
toolbar into the program is whack plain whack.
I will not be recommending AVG to anyone as well
as other programs that go into the dark hole
and TeMerc, thank you for the Bill info on
his opin on toolbars could not agree more with him!!!

Sorry it took so long to reply but had to work today and just finished clearing snow.
I am using Zone Alarm and it could be there is a conflict with ZA, not sure. I may try to disable ZA and try AVG 8 again when I have time.
Maybe I should consider using AVG Internet Suite and remove ZA, or use ZA Suite and remove AVG.
Any thoughts about this?
Yes for once I can say Keep ZA and remove AVG!!!

Had the same problem with the complete scan. Showing a mass of trojans, viruses etc.
Did a scan with SuperAntiSpyware and 7.5. Clean, not even a lousy cookie.
Every time I reboot---a new network found.
Speed has been so so. Most of the time it's not bad at all then slows down some. Kinda up and down.
v. 8 does not seem to like MailWasher Pro for some reason either. Keeps losing internet connection even though it's set up to allow all. With 7.5, no problem.
But the last thing that irks me to no end is that damn toolbar.
I have a license to AVG w/ Firewall. Perfect. Ran it with SuperAntiSpyware and WinPatrol Plus. Plain and simple without all the BS. Very low resources.
This Monster they created now is something else.
Thanks but no thanks. When 7.5 is gone, so am I.

danny9,

Glad that I am not the only one that had this experience with HUNDREDS of trojans etc. This is my experience and I am with you, unless they change it quick, when 7.5 is gone, so am I, I have bought it for all 3 of my computers, but version 8 is the last straw.

Why does it seem that each time a company has a good product they have to "improuve" it to where it is absolutely worthless?

Have a good day,
Normandie

Normandie in this case Ill recommend you to contact AVG tech support to solve this issue. You can do it on this page:

Btw there is also possibility to attach some files. If you can attach the scan result screenshot and some of the detected file Im sure it would lead to the solution

Re: AVG upgrades popular security suite

For windows vista, AVG 8.0 Anti Virus is very buggy. I went back to 7.5, and will wait till they work out the bugs.

You do know there is an option when you install for it not to install the toolbar.

Yes, I'm sure hayc as well as myself know its there.
It's the idea in general.
Besides it's not just the toolbar. As my earlier post stated, just to many bugs and alot heavier.
AVG 7.5 was very good. They can keep v.8 with all the add ons I don't really need. That's if they even get all the bugs fixed.

I agree.

@on.net

I was having performance issues with AVG Internet Security 8.0 on my Windows Vista Business edition based system.

The AVG support FAQs (see »www.grisoft.com/ww.support) suggested installing a MS update for Vista KB929547 (see »www.microsoft.com/Downloads/deta···ylang=en).

Since installing the update my system is running just fine. LinkScanner is now fast. A complete system scan runs in half the time and I can work away on other things without the system scan effecting me.

I tried this new version and I will be probably reverting back to free McAfee from Comcast ...
