| [billing] Cheapest Home Phone plan?
First, I want to say I realize this isn't really the right section for this, but it does related to my DSL.
I am wondering if there is a sort of no fee or very low fee calling plan for the home phone. We don't really need the home phone for calling anymore and naked dsl is not available here at least not without a ton of hoops. I don't want to lose my internet service for days I can't anyway as I am on the 2 year contract.
Is there a cheaper plan I can go on for the home phone? Right now I am paying $8.95 for "Flat Rate Unlimited Service" and an ungodly amount in taxes.
Would appreciate help from anyone that knows. Thanks alot! |

| Did you simply enter your address here? »www22.verizon.com/Content/Consum···ress.htm That will tell you if dry loop is available. It will cost $5-7 extra. When I go to Verizons phone page, it shows plans for my area from $5.92-$8.20 for flat rate service. »www22.verizon.com/Residential/Te···lay.aspx -- RIP my baby Buttons 1/15/94-2/9/07 Buttons, Buttons video

| I just checked your link. It tells me "Our records indicate that there is an existing Verizon home phone service at this location. Please enter the Verizon home phone number associated with this address so we can show you the specific Verizon Broadband options and packages available to you."
Also, yes its $8.95 here, but I am wondering if there is some plan with no outging calls for next to nothing. I really do not need to make calls from my home phone any longer and last I checked with "dry loop" is it involves losing your service for several days which is not acceptable for me unfortunately.
Thanks for your reply |

| Whoops.. I put in my number and it tells me that number is not associated with the address entered. It is though. I guess I cannot check. When I contacted my local office about naked dsl, the lady knew what I was talking about, but said they do not have that yet setup in the area. I asked if they have any estimated date when it would be, but she said they didn't give her such information. |

| reply to questions The words "flat rate" and "unlimited" are opposed to what you want to achieve. I forget what it's called, but you want something where you pay for every outgoing call, even local.
You may also have to pick a regional and long distance toll carrier that doesn't have any monthly charge. I think Verizon started charging $2 to 3 to not have a toll carrier and you'll want to avoid that. |
