Degraded Service

I signed up for the phone right when it first came out in my area (~ 2 yrs ago). It was crystal clear- all the time, no problems. Lately, I can tell that the system is more congested- I get some voice drops or distortion (like a cell phone). Makes me wonder if Charter can handle any more customers. The good thing about phone, is it is regulated, and they can't afford to have downtime. But bad call quality is not downtime, unfortunately.

It's not congested, it's a problem either in your house or in the outside plant.

Yes they can handle more customers, they have a dedicated CMTS and fiber backbone for VoIP.

FYI: Not regulated anywhere near the rate (if at all besides possibly some NEW (»blog.tmcnet.com/blog/rich-tehran···ill.html) 911 requirements) that a regular land line is, hence the reason why it is much cheaper than a standard, quality land line.
