| Actiontec - I hate this P.O.S.
For the friggin umpteenth time this piece of crap ends up dishing out random IP addresses via DHCP despite the fact that I setup nearly as many times static leases. I'm not asking for advice. Just ranting that I hate this friggin P.O.S! -- There are 10 types of people that understand binary numbers. Those that do - and those that do not... |

| reply to Drunkula Well I already have a plan of action. I just haven't had a chance to execute it yet. It just seems like that thing is an exercise in futility. It's downright annoying that a so-called static lease goes the way of the do-do. Next thing you know my friggin database and proxy server are on a completely different IP and nothing works. I have never had a problem with static DHCP assigned addresses until Verizon forced this thing on me (yes I have Fios TV). Like I said - not asking for advice - just ranting. I am aware of the options. -- There are 10 types of people that understand binary numbers. Those that do - and those that do not... |

| reply to Drunkula Just want to say I agree with you.
I never was thrilled with the Actiontec (setup is weird to me, and the "are you sure?" crap every time you use an advanced screen drives me mad), but I was willing to live with it. That is, until the recent firmware update that broke the static DHCP...well, at least, broke the router's ability to display it properly (it works, it just doesn't refresh the list). Seems like you're ok until you power cycle the router, then any recent firmware updates will load.
I am about to buy another router and just use the thing as a bridge. I've used Linksys and DLink in the past, before I got FIOS TV and was forced to take the Actionwreck. |
