Implement current "status" and/or "moods"

I think it would be a great idea if users could type in their current "status" that would be displayed next to their DSLR name, but in a smaller text. The user could type in anything they want and update it at any time, and so it would say, "So and So is doing such and such".

Facebook has statuses, so that is where I am getting the idea from, I think it would be kind of cool. Either that or your current mood. The mood could be a dropdown list that you choose and can change whenever your mood changes!

Cool idea. It would show up like: "removed is *object*-ing to this post."

With that said:

Object. If you have buddies, you can already tell them via 'doing'. No need to broadcast it.

Cold weather and not dark enough to sleep?

If you really like these other sites' features so much more than the ones here,...

Gee, this thread changed my mood. But I like to be a little enigmatic, so I'm not revealing anything.

Use your posting tag. Yeah, it's text only, but you'll still get the idea across. In fact, it's more descriptive than a single graphic or emoticon. You can use several words like "annoyingly pensive", "sullenly angst-ridden", or even just "happy".

Implementing this doesn't add anything to the site but bandwidth. Therefore, I **object**.

I think anything that makes this site appear different like MySpace or Facebook is a step in the right direction. Therefore, while I think the posting tag will accomplish what you want, ** object **.

It would be even better if we avoid emulating facebook.

This isn't a kiddie networking site. I have buddies and that is about as much as I care to know. Most of the time I really have zero desire to know what most people here are doing.
