Re: [OT] The New York State Travelin' Beaver - Part 4 Washington, DC: Part I
Beaver was warmly welcomed to the District of Columbia:

Fuzzbutt, the resident bear, and his evil twin, Pork Chop the singing pig, wasted no time getting Beaver ummies to eat after his long journey from Alaska. It also seems they got into the booze! (Imagine that!)

After sleeping off the food coma and monumental hangover, Beaver was ready to see some sights.
Tooling along K Street on the way to the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.

After that, Beav spied his next destination...

The visit to Pennsylvania Avenue and the White House was something of bust because of all the construction going on for the Innaugural Parade reviewing stands. But, our intrepid little Beaver was not deterred!
The Old Executive Office Building is immediately north of the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue between Executive Drive and 17th Street NW. It originally housed the Departments of State, War, and Navy from the 1880s to 1930s. Today, it used by the Vice President, and a number of miscellaneous Executive Branch offices. The official name is the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (since 1999), but most still call it "the OEB."

Some other views along the 1600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue NW.

Now approaching 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW!

| reply to Maccawolf said by Maccawolf:Looks like MY kitchen when I try to cook! Pork Chop takes after Tim when it comes to cooking...my kitchen always looks like a war zone afterward. OTOH, I'm a clean-as-I-go type, so it's never a mess. Pork Chop is also an exceptionally bad influence...Fuzzbutt was such a well-behaved widdle bear...he never, ever got into any kind of mischief or trouble until Pork Chop came along. Now, well you can see for yourself what he's become! -- There is no giant fur-bearing trout. |

After the White House, Beaver headed toward to the United States Capitol, stopping at the World War II Memorial and buzzing the Washington Monument...

Beav was amused by Washington Monument...couldn't imagine why they'd make it look like a tasty twig...

| His collection of "stuff" is safely with one of the previous hosts, as it was becoming too expensive to keep shipping around, especially since he was traveling to Europe at the time. Some of his items were getting broken, as well, as some hosts weren't practicing safe packing techiques. So, we tried to simplify things by periodically hoarding all his "junk". We hope to establish a Beaver Museum where all his souvenirs will be kept in a central location. |
