Gungerdin : I will put your photo album together soon. I have been a bit behind and lax on updating the website. Some parts such as the blog are old and behind and that has to do with the software being hosed and won't let me update it. I was in the process of updating the blog to word press but there is not enough action to bother with it. I look forward to Lia Pearl posting if and when she feels comfortable to do so. If and when she does, we will keep a keen eye on the protection of The beaver's mom. We encourage Lia to do so. :)

Nikita : Ok we are back from Georgia. Unfortunately, due to some security issues I don't have a gazillion photos. Seems no one in the military has ever heard of DSLReports.com and the potential of tarnishing the Army with a Beaver o_O. So, I had alot of people turndown my request for pictures and I was turned away from places. I'm not one to argue with a man w/ a giant rifle. I'll upload the photos after work tomorrow.

PCInTech : His collection of "stuff" is safely with one of the previous hosts, as it was becoming too expensive to keep shipping around, especially since he was traveling to Europe at the time. Some of his items were getting broken, as well, as some hosts weren't practicing safe packing techiques. So, we tried to simplify things by periodically hoarding all his "junk". We hope to establish a Beaver Museum where all his souvenirs will be kept in a central location.

Pork Chop takes after Tim when it comes to cooking...my kitchen always looks like a war zone afterward. OTOH, I'm a clean-as-I-go type, so it's never a mess. I just realized that when I went to North Korea this year I could have invited the little one with me, especially since I did something very few people do: go by train from Beijing to Pyongyang (26 hours train :huh:)
I am sure he will have very few opportunities to go to this forsaken country in his life time.
I am going back to North Korea (and South Korea as well) in December 2009 so I wonder if I can put an option to make him discover this special place!
In the meantime I am also traveling to another hard to enter country in April: Myanmar (former Burma) so he could come too (he better like spicy food!).

Gungerdin : It was my pleasure. I have done so many of these that it doesn't take much time anymore. The website is due for a makeover soon but making one from scratch took me a long time the first time. Creating the graphics is a task but should go faster as I have a better grasp on what to do now.

Owlbet : Beaver goes drag racing!

I work part-time at Alaska Raceway Park. I program the Christmas Tree (timing lights) and it is impossible for me to take pictures during the racing action.

Yesterday (August 30th) when I posted I had to leave while updating the thread with Beaver's train and State Fair adventures, I went to work early and stayed after the racing action was over to get pictures of the Beaver at Alaska Raceway Park and the surrounding area.

Then we were off to check out the produce and giant pumpkin. I told the Beaver Alaska is famous for its giant cabbages. But on this day, they weren't ready for judging and display until Saturday. He understood.

Then we were off to check out the farm animals.

Beaver making friends with a young lady and her cow. I petted the young lady's cow. I've never felt a cow with such soft hair.

A reindeer or caribou. Beaver asked if that was Rudolph and I said no. He wanted to know why this creature was considered a farm animal. I told him Native Alaskans are allowed to keep reindeer or caribou in personally-owned herds.

The Beaver complained (lol) of the "smell" of the farm animals. We were both ready for some fresh air and some food. We savored a barbecued turkey drumstick as we watched the crowds in the midway. Then the rains came and we had to seek shelter until the showers passed. Look at the sky in the first picture below.

The rains had passed. We were ready to check out some music. Beaver wasted no time in making friends with Element 47, a local party band. I took their card. I plan to recommend them for the company Christmas party.

By the time we were done listening to Element 47, darkness had fallen upon us and the Alaska State Fair. Before making our way back to the train for our journey back to Anchorage, we decided to check out the fireworks. Beaver politely and tactfully told me my nighttime picture skills could be greatly enhanced by visiting the Digital Imaging Forum. I told him I've been there and done that. I'm just a point and shoot photographer and I'm happy with that.

When the fireworks display was over the Beaver and I boarded the train. Both of us were wiped out. We walked and ate and walked and ate all day long. Along with most of the passengers on the train, we napped for the one hour or so ride from Palmer to Anchorage. We arrived in Anchorage about 12:30AM Saturday, August 30th. The Beaver and I gathered up our things and made our way to my pickup truck.... :D

By now most of you are wondering about the surprise rescue. I live in Palmer, but work in Anchorage. The Beaver and I departed Palmer by pickup truck at 6:00AM on Friday, August 29th. Later that morning, we rode the train to Palmer, then back to Anchorage at the end of the day at the Fair. On the truck ride from Anchorage to Palmer, about 20 miles south of Palmer, my right rear tire shredded. I was travelling under the speed limit because I was tired. I maintained control of my truck and I didn't panic. The Beaver and I were fortunate that we were right at an off ramp on the Glenn Highway. I can change my own tires, but several days earlier my husband had rotated my tires (the tire that blew was formerly on the front of the truck :o) and he forgot to put the tire iron back in the bed of my truck. I call my husband....."Honey, rescue me, please." He had no choice but to come help. Beaver and I didn't arrive back in Palmer until 3:30AM, Saturday, August 30th. Beaver and I had been up for almost 24 hours.

Sometimes hindsight is 20/20. I should have taken the picture of the tire with Beaver. I think I was too tired to think.

PCInTech : Obviously, Beaver knows many Native Americans from his visits here, me being 1/4, and our local population, and he's seen many chainsaw artists. HE LOVES THAT kind of work. Owlbet : When we left off here, the Beaver was itching to get into the Fair. However, the Beaver didn't have a ticket for admission. :o

With the Beaver safely tucked into my backpack and with explicit instructions to not make a sound, I presented my ticket for admission to the Alaska State Fair. The Beaver and I were in without a hitch. With no further need to remain hidden, I let the Beaver come out of the backpack. Straight away, he set about making new friends.

The Beaver has no qualms about becoming friends with a cop. The Beaver made a beeline for an officer with the Anchorage Police Department. The officer was there to recruit new police officers. The Beaver was all gung-ho to apply; however, the police officer stated that they do not accept beavers for recruitment.

The Beaver said his goodbyes to the police officer. Before making more friends, he wanted to take time to do a special "color shout out" to his friend lilhurricane . "This one's for you Purple Princess." ;)

The Beaver was happily singing "Alaska, it's your birthday, it's your birthday" as he checked out the newspapers from January 3, 1959.

Once again, we were back on the midway. The Beaver posed with a totem pole. He wanted to know what Native Alaskan group was represented by the totem pole and I told him I didn't know. He was okay with that.

"Oh my gosh" is all I heard from the Beaver as he caught a glimpse of a vendor booth and started to drag me to it. It turns out that Beaver is fond of the nationally syndicated comic strip Tundra. He made immediate friends with its creator, Chad Carpenter. Chad told the Beaver that him and his friends have a travelling Frank Sinatra doll. Imagine that!

Beaver bids adieu to Chad. Still checking out vendor displays, Beaver makes his way to the chainsaw sculptures. I think he just smelled wood and wanted to fell trees.

I'm back to finish up the Beaver's Alaska State Fair adventure. I'll see what I can do in the coming days to get more railroad pictures, hopefully along Turnagain Arm, the southern counterpart to Knik Arm. The two arms comprise the upper reaches of Cook Inlet.

The conductor noticed I wanted to take lots of pictures. He told me to open the windows on each end of the car to get my west and east views. Woohoo! No more glass. The Beaver is still on the ledge shown in my previous post. He just moves with me from one end of the car to the other.

Views of the Chugach Mountains, the oncoming gravel train from Palmer, the Knik River, and the Palmer Hay Flats wetland. The Knik River is glacier-fed. That is why it is the soupy grey color. The color is from the constantly swirling glacier silt in the water.

Chugach Mountains

Pioneer Peak of the Chugach Mountains and the soupy grey waters of the Knik River.

A fork off of the main flow, and a considerable distance from, the Knik River. The sand bars are deposits of glacier silt. When high tide rolls in, the river will fill up. When the tide goes out, the silt could be gone or deposited elsewhere in the channel. Tidal and glacial silt is unstable to walk on and can prove deadly if one chooses not to heed the warnings.

The Palmer Hay Flats. The name is a misnomer, it's actually a wetland. It is a popular landing and breeding ground for returning waterfowl in the spring.

Owlbet : Yesterday, the Beaver and I went to the Alaska State Fair on the Alaska Railroad's Fair Train. It was a long day that had quite a surprise ending and rescue. It didn't involve the train and no one got hurt. You'll just have to ride along to learn about the surprise ending. I have to work today at my second (it's fun, so it really isn't work) job, so I'm uploading as many pictures as I can until I have to leave.

The Beaver is in front of the old locomotive that is the centerpiece of the south side of the depot in Anchorage.

This is the engine at the end of the train. It is used on the return trip from Palmer to Anchorage. Two silver cars and the blue and yellow engine comprise the entire Fair Train. The silver cars have their own engine sources and we are actually headed in a direction opposite of the engine.

The Beaver is ready to board. The thing is, he can't ride where he wants to ride.

The Beaver is making new friends. Once on the train I was met with uncharacteristic unfriendliness by the passengers toward Beaver adventures. I chalked this attitude up to "Lower 48" tourists. I didn't press the issue. I'll bet that if I was on the Ski Train to Alyeska or the Beer (Oktoberfest) Train to Girdwood, Alaskans would have been all over the Beaver. The tourists are gone for these two trains. :p

I thought yesterday was the opening of the State Fair. Actually it is today. It's raining pretty hard right now, so going out in the rain with my camera is out of the question. Fireworks are at 10:30 pm, so if it's not raining, the Beaver and me will head to downtown Palmer.

It was a fun drive home from work. Anchorage's street were flooding. It was raining and hailing cats and dogs.

Across the highway and the Beaver is at Kepler Bradley Lakes. These lakes are more a series of inter-connected ponds rather than lakes.

It began to rain and we headed for home. We took a detour to the scenic pullout on the Glenn Highway. The Beaver is precariously perched (not really, he's well tethered to the fence...lol) 220 feet above the Matanuska River Valley. Glaciers cut the riverbed below. Lazy Mountain is in the background. Because it was raining, we got the rainbow in the picture.

These pictures were taken within a three mile radius of Palmer. Tomorrow we will visit the quaint little metropolis of Palmer, Alaska. Population 6,400 or so.

PCInTech : I should note... that in the distance, is Boldt Castle, a tragic love story of itself. George Boldt, at the turn of the Century, built this multi-million dollar house as a Valentine's Day gift to his wife. (That was a LOT of money at the turn of the last Century!) She died before the house was completed, and he abandoned all work on it. (George was the owner of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, and one of his head chefs created "Thousand Island Dressing" for salads, named for his beloved Northern NY resort.) The "Castle" sat in disrepair for decades, even featured in a Horror movie, "Fear No Evil", filmed on location, until it was restored in the last 20 years to the Glory that Boldt wanted for the gift to his wife.

PCInTech : Thanks, Lil... I should share a personal story... I'm particularly excited about Beaver going to Alaska's 50th Birthday Party. As some of my friends know, I was born in Montreal, Quebec. I was adopted by an NYC couple in 1953. There was a waiting period of several years for them to make me a US Citizen at the time. I was taken to the Federal Court House as a 5 year old in New Haven, CT, to take my oath of US Citizenship a few days after Alaska was admitted to the Union. (Having lived already in two of the Original 13 Colonies!) I took the Oath Of Allegiance holding a 49 State Flag! Celebrating the US's newest State. I never forgot it.

The 49 Star US Flag didn't last long, since Hawaii joined the US shortly afterwards. ;)

I still have my little 49 Star US flag sealed in plastic in my safe deposit box, BTW.

PCInTech : Beaver is IN Alaska, and has been since Tuesday! He's a tad busy right now, attending opening DAY at the Alaska State Fair, and serving as New York State's official Ambassador for Alaska's Grand 50th Birthday!!!

He IS, however, missing his own beautiful State's State Fair, going on right now in Syracuse, but he felt that Alaska's 50th Birthday Bash was important.

Gungerdin : The Beaver and I were very happy to stay in a real cozy Massena hotel within walking distance from Papa Joe's home. Beav got all excited when he realized that we had to walk over the famous footbridge that was real close to the hotel.

PCInTech : On Wednesday, continuing on our pillaging of A-Bay, we stopped in at the Dancing Dog Saloon. Sonya was an absolute darling! She immediately logged into our site here right at the bar, too, and was excited over all of the wonderful Beaver hosts that we've had. Beaver wandered around this perfectly delightful, popular, Downtown nightclub.

Gungerdin has some more pictures on his camera from Alex Bay, but he is in-transit right now, probably sailing through Albany as I type this. (IF he left the time he said he was going to... LOL) I'll have a few more pictures as well, that I'll be using as we go along, to keep this thread up.

Beaver will be on his way to the Great State Of Alaska later today. Stay tuned for more adventures as he helps celebrate Alaska's 50th Birthday!!! :) :) :)

PCInTech : We hit "The Dockside" next, one of my favorites in The Bay. We had a lovely young lady who was the bestest waitresses in the whole WORLD! On the way there, he met one of the lions at the Chamber Of Commerce building. I told him that they won't eat him, so he was safe sitting so close to his mouth.

We then met a REAL Pirate Family! The young lad in front taught Beaver how to fire a black powder pistol. (Our next host would be advised to keep Beaver away from firearms!) You'll note that Beav acquired an eye patch, so he could BE A PIRATE. We kept him away from the parrots. He was licking his chops, and we know he likes poultry.

Beaver then hopped aboard a real Pirate Ship, proclaiming "Im a PIRATE, I'M A PIRATE" and tried to commandeer it off to pillage and plunder. My wife, Nancy and Gungerdin got him off just in time before the Pirates returned.

You sure he won't eat me?

The BEST waitress in The Bay!!!

Dangerous Pirate Family. Don't worry, they were friendly.

PCInTech : Pirates Ahoy!!!!!!! It's Pirate Madness in Alexandria Bay! (also knows locally as "A-Bay", "Alex Bay" and "The Bay") In the heart of the Thousand Islands, the town is transformed annually for 10 days into a Pirate's Playground. We made the rounds, believe me.

Our first stop was "The Riverboat", where the bar itself is an actual boat in the middle of the place. Beaver was confused. He wanted to help pour some beers, but he still thought he was on a ship. He at least got to try one of the local specialties, 1812 Amber Ale by Sacketts Harbor Brewery, who are located just a few miles away.

PCInTech : The Zen Tricksters hit the stage with the Beaver! He was slso kind enough to buy them some water for their show. The gal from the previous set of pics who took a flop in the mud is able to do some dancing, and the poor sound guy is still trying to figure out what the HELL the Beaver did to his equipment! Beaver was getting dizzy from the Hula Hoop dancer, so we left after the Zen Tricksters. Sadly we missed the Dark Star Orchestra, who wouldn't be coming on for another hour or so. (They wound up playing until midnight, and we had a VERY tired little Beaver on our hands.)

The last photo is our special friend, Eric, who says "Hey there!" to all in the NY Forum, and wants to meet you all next year. He's one of the sweetest guys on earth.

PCInTech : We did some more visiting with members of the "Meltdown Family".

The nice couple in the last picture were good pals of ours over the weekend. I wound up rescuing that nice lady out of a mud puddle. She had slipped and took a very nasty fall right on her keester and hit her head. I picked her up with another festival goer, she was bruised and muddy, but otherwise OK. She just limped a little for the next hour.

We hope to see all of them again next year... maybe you NY Forum folks, too? :) :) :)

This poor guy got lost on the way to the food garden and was REALLY hungry. I told him that Beavers aren't food.

This guy arrived at the gate with us at the beginning of the day. We became friends throughout the afternoon.

PCInTech : While waiting for the Zen Tricksters to get setup, Beaver visited some friends. He stopped by for some information from Rock The Earth »www.rocktheearth.org

He also visited with the Guitar Slinger, who makes jewelry from things like guitar picks, strings, etc. He introduced Beaver to his traveling sidekick, Eeyore. They got along great and both went off to the Magic Hat tent together while I did some shopping for guitar-themed jewelry.

We paid a visit with Pam, the nurse from the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department's Rescue Squad at the First Aid station. Don't worry, we weren't there for medical attention. She hadn't had a single incident all weekend, as everyone was safe, healthy and well! (The Saranac Lake Police Dept. also didn't have a single incident... a very peaceful, friendly crowd!)

Rock The Earth - Save our enviornment

Eeyore and Beaver became great friends.

Fortunately, Nurse Pam was able to enjoy the tunes without interruption all weekend!

Beaver was blown away by the electric bagpipes and the pretty lass that spun him around the grass for awhile in a Celtic dance. Totally amazing...

PCInTech : Psychedelic Jam Band, Raisinhead, is 3rd on the schedule for Sunday, and Beaver got right up on stage with them. The sound guy is still looking for Beaver to find out what the HECK he messed up with the equipment! Raisinhead fans do some more trippy dancing, and the pretty girls all want to meet the Beaver. What else is new, right?

PCInTech : Twiddle hits the stage next, with the rain still comin' down. Only the diehards are down by the stage, with the big sissies hanging out in the food garden tents up the hill. They don't know what they were missing. Twiddle is kinda "trippy", if you get my drift, but their fans did a little "reverse rain dance" and got the deluge to stop for the day! Yippee! Twiddle couldn't wait to meet the Beaver after their set, also.

PCInTech : Sunday's concert got off to a very wet start, beginning two hours late because the Dark Star Orchestra's truck go stuck on a hill on the grounds earlier that morning. A torrential downpour followed, and it wasn't pretty. The nice folks from Magic Hat Brewery took care of us all in their tents with complimentary rain ponchos.

Chaz DePaolo and his totally rockin' Blues band took the stage, finally, and Beav couldn't wait to get up there with the band. We hate to inform one of our members here, that we've lost our Marriot Connections Guy, as he's now a road manager for the Chaz DePaolo Band. Beav and PapaG made a new girlfriend, too, a fine Irish lass she was too. After hearing Chaz play a blistering guitar solo, Beaver told me he wants a guitar and says we have to send him for lessons. This could be interesting.

Chaz couldn't wait to have his picture taken with Beaver, and says he'd be happy to give him lessons anytime. He DID tell the beaver that it's never a good idea to get an electric guitar WET, though, so he can't practice in the river. Chaz was facinated with the Beaver. He's from Bayonne, New Jersey and doesn't get to see many of them wandering around at home.

PCInTech : In the above shots that PapaG posted, he showed you what we did on Tuesday here in Massena at Softails Saloon, a new biker bar here in town. There's also some pics from my neighborhood, with Beaver surveying the Grasse River behind my house for a spot for a new dam. You also got some random shots from the Meltdown over the weekend, including a great shot of the Pig Man, who ran the Italian Sausage & Pepper sandwich concession for the Saranac Lake Masons.

Yesterday, we spent a lovely day with my Mrs. in Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands. It's "Pirate's Week" there, and Beaver had a great time. Those pictures will follow at some point, but in the meantime... I still have a bunch from the weekend's Beaverfest Meltdown!

Coach's Corner is a highly rated restaurant and popular sports bar. The lights are celebratory, not Christmas. A local guy just got signed to the NHL. You should SEE the Christmas lights! They'll pop your eyes out. :D

PCInTech : OK.... now I'm into the first of several batches from Sunday's concerts! We got rained on for a couple of hours, in a torrential downpour, as I told you. Then, everything was smooth sailing. To describe the pictures in this bunch...

We arrived at the Festival site, Beaver wouldn't walk up the HILL FROM HELL (Saranac Lake is all VERY steep hills!) so he got a ride in Daddy G's camp chair bag. Lucky dude, he is... if not a little bit lazy.

At the entrance gates, he noticed the suits for the bears that were out around town the day before, and was very confused as to why they had nobody in them. I had to explain that it was raining heavily and those costumes are very expensive, so they didn't want them to get ruined. He then tried to get both of the Dads to do the job. We told him NO.... because then we'd miss the entire concert.

True to form, he immediately headed to see his girlfriends at the Magic Hat pavilion. First he wanted to help the promo girls untangle the magic beads, then he wanted a hug from his favorite bartender. (She let us try a new concoction called "9 Lives", which will be on the market late this Fall... ssshhhhh... don't tell anyone!)

Immediately, an old friend from the Akwesasne Reservation bought him a beer, of course, and he ran into some die-hard Red Sox fans who wanted to explain to him that even Sox fans LOVE the NEW YORK STATE TRAVELING BEAVER!!!

Then he paid a visit to the sound crew (for obvious reasons, given what one of his Dads does for a living...) and got some lessons in operating the equipment. Unfortunately, he twisted one knob in the TOTALLY wrong direction, and caused a major audio calamity. OUCH!

More to come, with the entertainment and many new friends...

PCInTech : Note: Gungerdin and I caught a lot of these people during the early part of Sunday, when we were gettiing DROWNED in a DELUGE of Biblical proportions. Thank the Lord for the magic people from Magic Hat Brewery who provided rain ponchos for the faithful during that time. Worry not... the rain/hail/thunder/lightning, disappaited after a couple hours, and we were again treated to sunshine and goodness. We were blessed. Yet another MIRACLE in the Adirondacks.

PCInTech : Well gang... we're in Massena NY, having left Saranac Lake. We have hundreds of pictures to sort through from the entire Festival, particularly Sunday, when we met all KINDS of interesting people. Everyone wanted to have their 15 minutes of fame with the BEAVER. It's going to take us some time to weed through these, of course. We should have some up soon, and they will entertain you while Beaver is on his way to the biggest State in the Union... Alaska! Today is a "decompression" day for Beaver and the Dads, though. After a weekend like we've had, you can only imagine. Special thanks go to....

Les Hershorn, Mountain Music Meltdown orginzer and Guru, not to mention the incredible support staff. The whole crew from Magic Hat Brewing Co., Burlington, VT. Rock The Earth organization. The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad, Adirondak Arc, The good people of the Lake Flower Inn and the Village of Saranac Lake. The visitors and concert-goers of the Meltdown, we've become a family! And, last but not least, all of the incredible musicians who spent time with the Beaver, happily, and enjoyed his company... The Horse Flies, King Wilkie, Zen Tricksters, Chris Hillman & Herb Peterson (with Jay and Dennis from King Wilkie), Enter The Haggis and especially, (soon-to-be Rock/Blues Legend, from Bayonne, NJ!) Chaz DePaolo, who chased me down all over the Festival grounds to meet the Beaver off-stage!

If I left out any of Beaver's special friends, I'm sure Gungerdin will come up with them. Stay tuned for more incredible pictures, as soon as the Dads get their energies back up to speed.

PCInTech : We have returned from day one of Beaverfest. We have many pictures, but not up for posting any tonight. The crowd was unfortunately thinner than last year, and there was fewer top flight acts performing and less of them. We did have to endure about 5 dismal, uninspired events of drivel, but were rewarded with 3 episodes of absolute brilliance, genius and inspiration. Kudos to The Horse Flies, King Wilkie and of course, Chris Hillman Band.Quite a day, quite a day.....

He dragged out my electric shaver, my toothbrush, my tie-dyed and Magic Hat T-shirts and a pair of socks. I told him I will need a bit more, so he went off to watch "Leave It To Beaver" on TV. We're headed out in the morning, and won't be in touch for a few days in this group, but we'll be annoying some of you on the telephone. :) :) :)

Nyhavn - New Habour. In the Summertime people are gattering here with friends and family to enjoy lunch, dinner or a cold beer.

The boats are for sightseeing in and around the Habour of Copenhagen. It's very popular in the Summer. :)

We have to keep in mind that the Summer season in Alaska is very SHORT, as it is here as well. There is nothing more beautiful than an Alaskan Summer, I'm told. The Beaver (and most of us, I'm sure, as well) would like a chance to see it in it's purest glory.

Gungerdin : With the announcement of beaverFest II It is important that we keep to a schedule.
If The beaver can be sent by next week to Owlbet , there may be enough time for a great Alaskan visit before he arrives in Massena. He must Be in Massena by 8/5. If this can't work out, he may have to be sent to Massena before his Alaskan visit. If this happens he will immediately be sent to Owlbet at the end of BeaverFest II. I am working on the webpage right now, and hopefully as I am using the newer version of jalbum I had installed yesterday to make the albums, all will go well. Sometimes I have to work through glitches and figure out new stuff when changing versions. :o

The normally-hospitable Mohawks up here have a standing order to SHOOT him if he ever tries to get in the Akwesasne Casino ever again! [att=6] Seems to like his food.

[att=7] Told me he would take care of his bill at the end of the trip! :huh:

I was wondering the same thing! I know there's more Beaver adventures out there, let's have 'em!!! We know we all love the little guy, and he's touched so many lives in so many ways. We got back Friday LATE, and I was sick with a MASSIVE allergy attack while there, as such, our activities were cut.. :(

The Beaver forgot to travel with identification and as such the casino did NOT believe him that he was old enough to gamble, as such he was in the room, CALLING ROOM SERVICE! :o :mad: :uhh:

PCInTech : He was always eager to donate to any charity who asked for it, and some that didn't.. and gave the ultimate support to struggling musicians, always. Some people that he gave their first exposure in his club, went on to National fame. When every other place went to canned music, and DJ's, he insisted on only having live music, even if it meant a loss.

Music was the important thing. He'd bring National and International "Stars" up into this area, and have 50 people show up. But that was alright.. even if he didn't make money... because he was exposing the people to great ART. He was a hell of a guy..... hell of a guy.

PCInTech : We just received word today that a friend of the Beaver has passed away. Larry Stringer, 54, of Saranac Lake, NY, died on March 24 at Adirondack Medical Center Hospital in Saranac Lake. Larry was a life-long resident of the town, and owned the Waterhole, the largest, and one of the only "big name" live music venues in Northern NY State, for many years. The music community will miss him.

It is with deep appreciation for his support of live music and musicians, that the Beaver, his Dads and all of us at DSLR extend condolences to his family and close friends. R.I.P., Larry.

The wife says he gets up to use the "facilities" and raids the 'frig, but has not been too talkative this week.
Something about wild parties in China. ;)

Tonight I break the news to him about Ziggy's passing, they were virtually inseparable when the Beaver was visiting.

UPDATE: The wife just called and told me she broke the news about Ziggy to the Beaver. Said he cried for a while, and wanted to be alone.
She was able to get him to come out of his room after mentioning she needed help rolling quarters for the trip to Vegas, said the Beaver perked up after that and has been quite busy...

BTW, the wife asked, when was the last time the Beaver had a bath??
Seems he is a little "gamey" and she needs to stay UPWIND of the Beaver. :D
I going to have to have a talk with him about "Personal Hygiene" when I get home! :uhh:

We're off to Las Vegas Tuesday morning!

Chinabound : Beaver, and my family returned as scheduled yesterday afternoon. He had a wondrous trip and wants to return to China as soon as possible. At the very latest, we will return next year for the Chinese Spring Festival, the Lunar New Year. I will likely be returning on my own this autumn, so depending on what is happening with him at that time, maybe he can accompany me.

LiaPearl did a great job keeping him safe and out of trouble the last week I wasn't there to help. She took him everywhere they went, snapped many pictures of his activities, and introduced him to many people. I am so proud of her, you just can't imagine.

Beaver will hit the road today to visit jwersan. He is a little bummed about leaving LiaPearl so soon after arriving back to the States, but understands he has other obligations and is looking forward to them too. I have been instructed to keep his belongings here by one of his fathers, so this is where his possessions will remain for the time being. He has accumulated very many things and while I don't mind paying the additional postage to send it all with him, it does seem foolish to be sending these things all over the world when most of it likely just sits in a box at each of his destinations.

Here are a few pictures that show just how much Beaver means to my little girl. They are inseparable.
I want to take this opportunity for thanking everyone for allowing us to take him to China with us and keeping him for so long. These pictures should help everyone realize how special he has become to LiaPearl. She is a little sad he is leaving for awhile, but understood that before I departed JiangJin last week.
She is grateful for the time she had with him and looks forward to his return next time.

Chinabound : I think Beaver was drunk when he sent those emails. He told me on the phone this morning he is as sad about leaving China today (their jet leaves Beijing in less than 6 hours) as I was last Thursday.
He had cute girls all over him, booze, bamboo and anything else he wanted.

I am actually catching up on everything I needed to do after arriving home, including processing some of the many pictures of Beaver. Part of the delay since I got home 30 hours ago was starting to clear the 12" of snow that accumulated today.

Here are six pictures from a day of fun near where the two great rivers meet in ChongQing. Beaver was on his worst behavior I have ever seen. I think the excitement and thrill of everything got to him, so I was trying to cut him a little slack. But after he finally crossed the line, I made him sit with his nose against the wall for about 10 minutes. Two cigarettes actually. He finally calmed down after that - and I don't think he will ever behave that improperly again. I kept telling him if he lands his ass in jail, it won't be so accommodating like here. I almost wish he got his ass arrested and booked in for a few hours.

I will upload many many more soon, and after LiaPearl arrives home on Wednesday - she has even more in her camera.

There was a slight change of plans - which I did not think to report until just now after reading my last post here from a few days ago. LiaPearl did in fact take Beaver with her on her trip to that other city, and she was armed with her camera, my old Olympus C740uz. She told me last night on the telephone that she has indeed taken many pictures of Beaver - now our only problem is I did not bring the connecting cord for her camera with us on this trip. My new Olympus' cord may or may not work with her camera - I don't know. If it does, I will be certain to upload her pictures here as soon as possible.

They will fly back to ChongQing this afternoon and I will be meeting them at the airport around 18:00 this evening. She (and mom) told me Beaver has been included in many of the things they did, such as the flight to near HongKong, going to a zoo, a train ride in the mountains and a few other activities. We have not yet decided if Beaver will return with me on the 20th, or if he will remain with her yet, but whatever is decided, I will be certain to have Beaver at jwersan's by the time he wishes - even if I have to overnight him.

Gungerdin : The Beaver has been available the whole time for anyone who has desire to host him. Just look in this thread and see how fast Maravillosa was able to get her name on the list. He has been around over a year now and I did not expect it to last this long. As new people stop by and show an interest, things spark up again, more so lately with the announcement of some international visits. I announced awhile ago that the rules and the list would be posted on his blog to make it easier then searching through threads. One look at a photo of Lia and The Beaver just makes you want to melt. You can see the passion and love she has for him and that decision was a real easy one to make. As always John you know that you can have The Beaver any time you want but I think you are mistaken about the situation.

Chinabound : Beaver is having the time of his life! He is sorry for not making more appearances, but we are very busy here in the Motherland.
Here are some more pictures for everyone. There are many ore to show you, but we need to do some shopping today before tomorrow. It is a travel day for my wife and LiaPearl. They will fly to another city near HongKong for a couple days. Beaver will remain here with me. :)

Thank you for the great shots! The Beaver has talked to papa Joe and I, He has requested that LiaPearl adopt him so she could be his mom. Lia is now The Beavers Mom and will keep him in her possession when there is down time. Upon his retirement he will reside with Lia at his request. :)

Chinabound : Yes she is Gary - and doing a wonderful job. Here's a couple pictures to start us off - the first awaiting our flight at O'Hare, and the second was taken somewhere over the Artic Circle. He was plastered to the window the whole flight.

Beaver really enjoyed flying outside of a box - and is a real hit here. So many people have wondered about him and I will have the pictures to prove it. For now however, here are a couple to start the new thread off. I will have many more to upload tomorrow.

Beaver hasn't allowed the gnome out of the suitcase though. I think he is a little possessive about LiaPearl and being here in China. We'll have to see how everything goes.

Beaver will return with me when I come back and then I will send him to whomever is next.

Nyhavn - New Habour. In the Summertime people are gattering here with friends and family to enjoy lunch, dinner or a cold beer.
The boats are for sightseeing in and around the Habour of Copenhagen. It's very popular in the Summer. :)

Hans Christian Andersen lived in Nyhavn when he came to Copenhagen in 1871. He lived in the brown house to the right.
