 | Sure 3000/512 What are the Caps ?? We got this service, but you don't get to use it. The most I get is 350K download out of 3000 and I pay a web site to get max download and was waste of money TDS holding me back. Like we did have 768 upload then they offered this nice 3000 speed did not tell you that you lost the 768 to 512 upload. I tried to go back to slower download to get my upload back they would not change not even head office in Madison. What they had when doing that was another customer at 256K which they save the bandwidth smart going there. To me TDS DSL is better than dial up no more said. |

 | Just to be 100% clear, when you say 350K you are talking bits not bytes, right?
Just seems odd that
350 kilobytes/second 8 bits/byte × -------------------------- 2,800 kilobits/second =
(my apologies in advance if you are talking kilobits/second and this is off the mark.)
Can you also post some test results during both peak time and off peak time, preferably both from BBR's test and from www.testmy.net

1 edit | reply to oldman19377 Good question there I did the test I get all these d/l speeds, but on File Plant and member all I get max D/L is from around 100Kbps to 300Kbps.
Hey , I tested my download speed at www.testmy.net. I got 2999 Kbps or 366 kB/s (I tested with a 2992 kB file). If you don't believe me you can go to testmy.net and validate the score. »testmy.net/stats/id-D6MU5J9NF ! This email was sent to you by your friend , from a web based form on testmy.net. Go to testmy.net and see if your download speed can come close to 2999 Kbps. Hey, you may even be faster than ... then it will be your turn to brag |

cvig join:2003-12-31 Chicago, IL 1 edit | reply to oldman19377 366 kB/s is exactly what your are paying for. That is too bad about the upload but asymmetric DSL works by allocating part of the bandwidth to download and part to upload. It may well be that 100% of the line signal is being used and it is not possible to bump up the upload without decreasing the download speed.
I am thankful Charter is in my market along with TDS. Charter has good promotions but horrible regular pricing. Same deal with TDS (except Charter has a 10 Megabit package while TDS maxes out at 3 Megabit -- hopefuly, the fiber to the home will be activated this summer and TDS won't charge an arm and a leg for it).
edit: I took a look at your history of tests and now it is clearer (so often people confuse things so like Jeff I thought perhaps...). I suspect there is something else going on besides capping. Perhaps the telco needs to come out and test your line? Just keep pushing them until someone comes out and tests the line to your house and at their box. You'll need to test from your house jack to your inside location unless you have a service contract with them. Could it be some other device plugged in on the line is causing interference? Good luck. |

1 edit | reply to oldman19377 What do the line and error stats look like when you pull up the status page of your dsl modem?
Do real-world downloads from other sites come in much closer to the test result speeds? |
