Re: [VoiceStick] BETA test proposal for MyGlobalTalk

Ok. IM sent.

The application does not work on my windows Mobile version 5.0 (WM5) TREO 750. I get an error message saying " The application requires a newere version of microsoft.NET Compact Framework than the version installed on this device" No big deal, I just won't use the application for now.

Here are my observations so far. I have used the bridge to call UK and Nigeria. While I have had no problems connecting, and the call quality has been quite clear, I did notice that I am being charged for calls that did not complete. I have a lot of 1 minute charges for calls that just just rang. So, this si one thing that will need to be worked on. I also tried the Global Call Forwarding a number of times. Was also charged for calls that were not picked up.

I plan on downloading the Java application to my Treo 750 and try it out. I will report on my findings.

For non Windows smart phones you would either set up the MGT dial in DID number as a speed dial, or on phones that allow for a dialing string your would append your phone book entry for the MGT DID then about 5 seconds of pause then the real number you wish to call.

The real salesman is selling freezers to Eskimos

Yes you will need to register fresh! This system of billing will be done on another platform, separate from VoiceStick. The current system currently shares many things, but as we go down the road it will make a full cut over to another system. So yes it needs a complete sign up.

No further discounts for being a VS customer. The beta does NOT depend on being a VS customer or not.

I will be posting the beta code in a new threat in a couple minutes.

Hi Bruce, my question is I have already a Voicestick account
(Unlimited Globa $24.95 plan).
1-I must re register my credit card which I use for my Voicestick account?

2- Do I get any discount for Myglobaltalk, because I am also a Voicestick customer?

If you manually program your phone, any phone can use it. On the Automatic side the Application works today ONLY on Windows CE phones ver 5 (with upgrade) and ver 6.0

Other platforms are being developed now, and will be out very soon.

Hope that answers the question!

Does it support all cellar phone? I don't think so. Looks like it's for Windows CE based phone only.

Ya know Paul (CEO) thinks I am the smartest guy he has ever met. It is you folks that keep me on top of my game, and do all of my competitive shopping. I am just thrilled to know that I can do a little pay back to you all.

Will have the code TODAY and will publish it.

Cannot wait for your testing. I am going to flood them with thoughts and fixes you folks come up with.

Just tell me what, if anything, I need to do with it and I'd be happy to give it a try.

Ok - a couple of questions...

First, pardon my n00bn3ss, but what are the requirements of the phone? I understand the need for a Windows based OS and you will add to that but do I assume (I know the joke) that a data plan is also necessary? This is how the voip traffic is carried?

Second, don't cellular carriers usually forbid voip traffic over their data plans? I thought I saw a writeup of t-mobile was one who specifically forbid it.

Right now I have three phones I could use, depending on what the requirements are. One is ATT and a Treo 650 without a data plan. The second is a Blackberry on T-Mobile that has the blackberry plan and the third is a regular phone (i560, i570 or i580) on the Nextel network. That one I could use the internet services (web, etc..) if needed.

I looked at the website www.myGlobalTalk.com, and it looks pretty snazzy! I checked the rate to Tokyo and it is a little higher than what I pay now but if the option to use a cell phone to make the call is there, I would mind the fractional higher cost.

Bruce - keep up the great work over there.

Great! Just what it takes to get me to try MGT. I miss i2bridge as I need to use calling card on the road for international calls after my VS account became outbound only.

I was thinking about signing up with callwithus.com because they have a number to call (just like calling card) and their international rates are very competitive, no inbound charge as well. They also support ATA and sip inbound.

By the way, Bruce, you should take a look at callwithus.

Just finished Axvoice beta testing. This comes in nicely.

Today, one cell per DID. With the new software, switch.... The design is for 5 different cell numbers.

Where the beta guys are going to get a work out is in the cut over. The web page will LOOK the same, but will have different API's, and the billing back end and switch are a major MAJOR change.

We will do the cut over on Myglobaltalk well ahead of voicestick.

For power users of the beta that give me quality feedback, I will have have funds for additional credits for them!

I'm finishing Beta with Axvoice, so I should have some time to kill. Doubt that I could even kill $10 @ 2 cents a minute.

Question: Can I set up a few of our cell phones to use the bridge or do we have to log on and change the one in use every time???
