Is this supposed to be surprising to anyone? The article makes it seem like thats shocking or unexpected. People all too quickly forget that we are talking about a large, publicly traded company here. Verizon, like any other company, exists solely to make money. Based on that, how is it news worthy that they decided to keep a profitable area??
