Verizon Fiber Optics Line Monitors - Free

Justin has given us the ability to group line monitors together for the purposes of looking at single ISP. Members of a group get free, as in no TP deduction, line monitoring services for now.

This is where you need to go to get setup & sign on:

* Sign-Up * .

Make sure when you're done to click "Create Monitor".

You need to be "pingable" . This is important!

There is no need for third party software - if your IP changes, you can always edit your monitor to reflect the new IP.

You just need to do 2 things:

1) enter IP in the static IP box AND 2) check the "dynamic" box. You must do both.

Make sure you also go to »/prefs/flair and select "SECTION My home connection" and enter the info there. It will appear by your graph so that others will know what service, etc you have.

When you have your monitor all set up and working, send me an IM asking for an invite to the group you want to join. Make sure you are logged into the site to get the invite. Click on the invite, then click on the link in the invite and accept.

Your graph will appear here:

Verizon Fiber Optics Line Monitors

I will be putting a link for our Line Monitor Group in the forum's side bar links.

Edit: »Line Monitoring FAQ

So...Who wants to go first?

Can I be in more than one group?
I'm already grouped in the D/FW group.

Cool idea. Just got to a computer to accept the invite.

Something I noticed is it seems to always use the east coast monitor which for folks on the west coast is probably less meaningful then displaying the west coast monitor.

I don't know if it's user configurable, mod configurable or not configurable might you want to suggest it to Justin.

You might want to suggest this in the Non-forum Reqests. The default at this time is the East Coast but if you click on "Palo Alto, CA, USA" link at the top of the list you can review the West Coast monitoring.

Ah, ok. I didn't even notice those options. They blend in to the first user's info. Maybe if it's split out into it's own section above it would be obvious.

It looks like your monitor goes back to when you joined the Verizon Fiber Optics Group 3/1. Were you doing line monitoring before this? When did you start?

At the top of each monitor page you can select to view - 24 Hrs · 36 Hrs · [4 Days] · 6 Weeks · Year+ .
