Welocme to the site, nit407. Before I send an invite you will need to get your line monitor setup and running. Then send me an IM (instant message) letting me know which group you want an invite to - either the Verizon DSL or Verizon Fiber Optics Group. Here is how you send an IM: » Site FAQ |

Hi, I have added my IP address for monitoring my Verizon DSL line.
I understand I need an invite to the group.
I neglected to check Dynamic IP when I first entered the monitoring information and it will not permit me to update it. Please advise how to do so, if necessary.
Thanks! Richard |

Invite sent, lxrdsl. When you get the invite, you will need to click on the link in the invite and accept. To edit your monitor go here: » /monit ··· red/mineThen click on the edit link. Make your changes and then click on Update monitor. |

Has monitoring gone down? I am showing no data starting at Noon today. Just a blank as of 12:00P, no green or blue lines.

It must be. My graphs cut off at the same time as well. EDIT: Looks like it should be fixed. » Line Monitor quit recording |

When you set your Line monitor up did you 1) enter your current IP in the static IP box AND 2) check the "dynamic" box. You must do both. You need to be "pingable" . This is important! » Tweaking FAQMake sure your router and firewall accepts WAN requests if you are using a router. |

» /testh ··· rt=m&p=5In looking at your monitor via the link above, you are not using your current IP address as it's showing IP: 192.168.x.x. You need to use your public IP address. Go here to find out what it is: » /whoisEnter that in the in the static IP box and then click on Update Monitor at the bottom of the page. Also make sure the "dynamic" box is checked. |
|
|
OK, that should do it! Thanks. |

Oblivious, just remember that Verizon uses Dynamic IP addresses for residential circuits, unless the policy is different in California. My line monitor due to the fact that my connection has a Dynamic IP is actually tied to a Dynamic DNS, that way my IP address will update accordingly. I'm sure you've done that, but if you have a router managing the DynDNS, it needs to be the router holding the public IP provided from Verizon. |
