| I am really angry about . . .
First of all, there was the defense department's awarding of the Tanker Contract to Northrop Grumman! I think it's really sad that the government chose a foreign company to produce these planes. I mean the trade deficit is already bad enough! We barely manufacture anything in the US any more, and one of the few things is airplanes. Though, our economical demise isn't far off, this brings it even closer. Of course it doesn't help that we have gone trillions of dollars more into debt as a result of the Iraq debacle, but letting foreign countries build planes for the Air Force is just plan stupid!
Since there is not much more for Americans to look forward too (other than poverty that is), I will turn my attention to sports as we know it now. Apparently the Chicago Bears (my favorite team) seem to think they can win without an Offense. On the other hand, they've never really had any kind of an offense in my lifetime, so what's different. But they didn't need to make things worse. I mean, first they re-sign a quarterback who granted, has never really had a chance to develop, but has pretty much proven that he will be little more than average in the NFL (if he's even that good). Then they let their best receiver go to one of their division rivals along with the departure of Mohammad, so that this average (at best) quarterback has even fewer options to throw to then in previous seasons (though it's not like they were making any great plays or anything). However, they should be out there aggressively seeking a REAL quarterback for one thing and some offensive linemen, but then again since they are in serious need of a REAL offensive coordinator, what's the point. I guess I shouldn't really expect much, I mean we are talking about the Bears. They really aren't due to win anything for another twenty-one years, so I guess we have plenty of time. I mean, even if they did have an outstanding offense, there offense would probably be mediocre at best. Ron Turner would probably make a great high school coach, don't get me wrong, but he has to be the worst offensive coordinators in the NFL! He wasn't even a very good college coach, and yet for some reason, the Chicago Bears hired him for a second stint a few years back, and continue to pay him as if he's doing a good job. Not that coaching in the college ranks is anything like coaching in the pros or vice versa, but the point is, Ron Turner is a dull offensive mind. The real problem for the Bears though, is the ownership! Until they get someone in their who cares about winning, the Bears will continue to flounder. Oh well, it could be worse . . . I could be a Detroit Lions fan!
Finally, (continuing with sports) there are the Seattle Seahawks (my other team) who apparently decided that their Kicker is not worth holding on to, even though they've won many games because of him. So they let him go to their division Rivals, the Rams. Of course the Seahawks won three of their last four games against the Rams because of Josh Brown field goals. I don't know why this bothers me. I really don't expect that the Seattle Seahawks will do much in the way of winning in the next few years anyway. Holmgren is on his last leg, and their "coach to be" Jim Mora Jr. doesn't have much of a record when it comes to winning. The Seahawks are on their way down.
In any case I just thought this was a good opportunity to unload some steam. -- DAMOX Proud to be a member of Team Discovery |
