The CV is supplied by my employer, and as a part of the install they had a UPS done also. the UPS is a bit oversized, a 1200, but does the job, even when I don't want to work. Considering AT&T is installing a $75 UPS, and are not responsible for maintaining the UPS, it has a high profit return for them, plus they no longer have to maintain the copper for your line between the BBOX and the CO. Most folks have cell phones so a power outage isn't that critical. I have never had any choppiness or other quality issues with it, but I have 10 meg down and 1.5 meg up pipe. If you were on the lowest DSL plans you might experience it. | |

Exactly... and I don't have 'kids' on my line throttling it with BT or other traffic.
I do have 2 cell phones on AT&T + a work line for Nextel Blackberry, so I'm not THAT worried about power outages. To add a note to that, I do have a car jumpstart kit and 200W AC inverted, which powered my laptop and DSL modem for hours w/o issue in the past.
Since you're on, and from Santa Clarita... could you post a trace to www.dnps.com - I'm curious to see the lag and hops to go out that way from Santa Clarita.
