| The ultimate solution to piracy...
...or at least the most effective one:
Content at REASONABLE prices that people are willing to pay for!!!
$20 for a CD, $30 for a DVD... seriously, how can they (record labels and movie studios) expect the average person to afford regularly buying music/movies at those prices? It's ridiculous.
Sure, you have those people that will NEVER pay for the stuff. But I'm sure a significant amount of people right now who pirate content would no longer if the prices were reasonable.
I myself wouldn't mind paying $5 for an album or $10 for a movie. But at the current prices NO WAY! |

| I'd agree with you there. When dvd's were fairly new, it used to be they'd be cheapest at release, then go to regular price after that. But now its on sale at release, up to regular price.. 6 months later on the super cheap sale rack So now you may as well obtain a temporary copy until it comes down to an affordable level. That way you're showing the industry what you're budget can afford.
They often rant about how many $ they lose (by their own math), but they fail to ask the question could the people download that stuff, actually afford all that they download. More then likely they couldn't.
Still I understand their argument, its hard to compete with free, especially when the free product is superior as well. DRM Free, higher quality etc.. |

It's been said many times before... the industry is sticking to an outdated business model. |

| reply to TheMG While I think that most of the comments and solutions, I must say that most of us have downloaded piracy sometime or another, I have to say if I did, I have bought it because it was pirated.
I feel that why should they care, most of what I want to own I buy it, and if the companies put more time into their product rather then rushing it to make $$$ I think most of us would agree to buy it.
If I really like something I buy it. -- Like My DSL!!! |
