 | Reach Your MONTHLY CAP in Less than a DAY I wonder how long it'll take users to get warning letters from Comcast for "excessive" bandwidth usage if it's "unlimited". They'll make a fortune by going the "PAY by the GIGABYTE" scheme of service. |

 | I will keep my stable AT&T 6/1M internet over Comcast. THey can offer 1G and unless you are downing movies, songes, or big files you will not notice the differance

Just because your transfer speeds have been increased doesn't mean that you MUST fill up the connection 24 x 7. The only people who think that way are the P2P fanatics that think it is a social imperative to download more music and videos in 1 day than they could ever listen to or watch in a year. -- My BLOG .. .. | reply to dadkins dadkins, I have agreed on most of your post from time to time. I do remember back before you got your upgrade on some of your post as well, and I remember how happy you were when you got it.But on this one? I'm sorry but back when I first got cable Broadband I was with @Home, my service was always good. I am about 40 min from Seattle but I have nothing out here but Comcast unless I want to go back to dialup with Qwest. If I wasn't a gamer Dialup would be just fine for me, I was always able to get 52k from my 56k connection so web browsing wasn't bad. But being a gamer I am always reading the news and always looking for better. This whole Doc3.0 ? this was great when I first read about it but I see only 20% are going to see it this year. They say it is cheaper to run and only takes a upgrade in a file to switch over. I'm sure it takes a little more than that but even so then why only 20% going to get it this year? My thoughts? Because I have no one else to go to. simple. In your case I am happy for you, even envy but I do think something is coming to your area or they had a reason for you getting it. They DONT give anything they dont have to. |

I do not work for Comcast... how the hell am I supposed to show you where the limits are?
One reason is... there are no defined limits!
It is weighed on a market by market basis. I know people that push 300-350GB per month - not a peep! I have seen people get "The Call" for 200GB.
Care to guess why that is?
As I said - market by market.
Is there anything else I can help you with today, Sir?

What they are doing is very wrong, and I think you realize that. But if you are not going to give people limits or guidelines, then you have no right to just kick people to the curb without due process. Period. Especially when it is their own equipment malfunction that is part of the problem. And I have no idea what you mean by your first line, but that's ok, it doesn't matter. |

It's like this: Their network, right? They can do whatever they want with *their* network, right? If they decide that you or I should get kicked... they can do that!
I really don't see what is so hard for people to understand about this.
Ever see a sign at a restraunt - "No shoes, No shirt, No Service"?
Their place, they can refuse anyone at any time and that's that! Same applies to Comcast and their network.
If you have service from Comcast, and you dont't like something they do - drop them! Don't bitch at me! -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

If you have service from Comcast, and you dont't like something they do - drop them! Don't bitch at me! Oh, I did drop them, faster than you can imagine. And people do have avenues they can take other than that also. However, you are incorrect that they can discriminate like that. But, with competition heating up, let them treat people like that. Then the few they have left will get good service. Oh, by the way, I paid for their service. If it were provided for free, then they could kick people off whenever they want. And for the record, I am not bitching at you, nor have I gotten cocky with you. I asked you a question, and got a response. |

Ya really should read the TOS and AUP of *ANY* ISP before agreeing to it.

Have a Great Evening! Oh, I did. TOS changed, several times, but you know that. When I signed up it was advertised as unlimited-and for years after that. And you picked a small part of the passage. I will not provide further explanations as it is fruitless. But, you shouldn't act as if you know the ins and outs of one's situation.
But I am done here, a man convinced against his will is of his same opinion still. You defend them a little too strongly to be a regular consumer.
I have no idea who Joe is, I am new here. But it didn't take me long to see how things go here.
Best of luck to you. |
