| Getting connected through the free trial.
I just recently received a login for the free trial (thanks for that Acanac) but as I figured it doesn't seem to work; I'm thinking because of the fact that I didn't have any DSL service at my current place. Is there anything I can do on my end, or is it up to Bell or whoever to get it up and running? Thanks in advance. |

| Hey poorstudent, if you don't currently have any DSL service, you won't be able to use the trial. I was in the same position. Nothing you can really do, except sign up to Acanac and if you don't like the service, you can cancel within the first 30 days and get a full refund.
Hope that helps! |

| reply to poorstudent No problem, sorry that (like me) you couldn't "test" out the service before purchasing. But I can tell you this much, if you ever do have problems with your line with Acanac, they will do their best to fix them |

@pfin.ca | reply to poorstudent I am currently with Bell ADSL and I am using 2WIRE modem from them. I was given free trial login and password. Can i try it before I am through with Bell? Do I just change the settings of my modem?
Thanks. |

| reply to poorstudent I was given a trail account on Tuesday but it didn't work. Keeps giving me PPoE Authentication fail.
I sent multiple PM since Tuesday to check if the account is enable/active. Must be a password issue but so far no one has gotten back to me.
Was hoping to try the service before purchasing but so far its not looking that great. |

| reply to jon168 jon168, make sure that what you're typing in is case sensative, and that you remember the "@acanac.net" at the end of your login. Paul is usually pretty good about his PMs, might just be that he's super busy, so I'd give him a couple of days to confirm what's goin on with it. |

Where can I find a list of these for DSL providers? |

| reply to paranoi7 paranoi, you didn't have to ask me 3 times lol
You have to go into your modem (or router, depending on which one is doing the connecting to the ISP) and change the info that you have in there to the trial info given to you by Acanac. That should be all you have to do. I really can't tell you more unless you give more info on your network setup...
Hope that helps! |

| reply to jon168 jon168, it shouldn't really make that much of a difference... test it out with whatever the default is, and that should work... I'm connecting using my router, and it doesn't even have a setting for VPI or VCI, and my connection works fine |

| Farshid420, I have tested two different DSL modems using the trial account and both I received the following message: "PPPoE Authentication fail"
The two DSL modems that I used to test consist of a Netopia 3341 from my current provider and a Speedtouch 516. Both of them work with my current provider.
There must a setting that needs to be changed? |

| Found out why I cannot authenticate it was due to the VPI/VCI settings.
My current provider has their own equipment and is not running off of Bell.
BTW, Bell's VPI/VCI number is: 0.35
My current provider is 8.35 and is not running off of the Bell Infrastructure so I cannot test the login anyways. |

| Sorry to hear that... guess the VPI/VCI settings went a little over my head. Again, you always have the option of signing up for Acanac's service, and if you don't like it, you can cancel within 30 days and get a full refund |

| I rather not do that at the moment as I cannot test the account and have my own DSL service still being active at the same time.
Until most of other DSL providers who run off of the Bell infrastructure, my current phone and DSL provider have their own equipment and circuits so I cannot test any DSL serivce unless I cancel and move off of their system entirely. |
