It's possible that if there are problems with the plant in your area, that's why they're also upgrading to DOCSIS 3.0. Why pay to upgrade twice?

So there may be benefits even to customers who don't upgrade to the higher tiers.

Any idiot that add multiple splitters to their drops, should not complain. I have no sympathy for idiot's that don't understand that adding splitters to their drops, degrade their own DS Power and US Transmit Power.
