| DOCSIS 3 Wonder how long until Armstrong starts rolling out DOCSIS 3... I think Armstrongs top tier is already pushing the limits of DOCSIS 2.
I have heard that their 500 tier was supposed to go up to 8mb/s, not sure if thats true. I have the PRO tier (10mb/s). It works pretty well.

| I haven't heard anything on going to 3.0 but, given their company reputation, I would assume that they'll utilize it soon enough.
The rumor you've heard is correct. I have a friend that lives in Poland, she got a letter saying that her Zoom 500 will be increased to 8mbps. From what I see on the website it looks like Zoom 100 will go up over 700kbps as well. Not too bad, nearly double my current DSL speed.
Let us know what happens with your Pro Speeds, I suspect that may go up to 15mbps. Timewarner already has their upper tier package at 15mbps.

Im sure all of your tiers will go up, I dont think PRO will. I don't think they can do much over 10mb/s on DOCSIS 2. I have heard that technically I can only get maximum of 8mb/s due to limitations and overhead. The only difference between the PRO and 500 tiers is that you have I think 1mb/s upload. I have 1.5mb/s up.
So until DOCSIS 3, I will have the same. Good thing is I head that testing is almost done and that DOCSIS 3 modems should start being produced this summer or fall. whether or not Armstrong is upgrading their equipment is beyond me. |
