Is there any TVoIP software for Mac? I've contacted Skinkers to see if they'll let me test an alpha of LiveStation, but TVU and TVAnts are both Windows-only. |

In addition, there are a number of worldwide TV stations (although many of them are NOT English speaking stations) that broadcast their TV "live" in various streaming formats. And while many of those video streams are "Windows only" (especially if/when the station's only supported format is "Windows Media Player"), some of those stations do use cross-platform streaming formats (which you should be able to use on your MAC). For example, I once helped an old lady (since deceased) watch her religious TV on a Linux box (which worked because that religious station supported RealPlayer streaming, and there is a Linux port of RealPlayer).

And a quick google search confirms there is also a RealPlayer for the MAC. So that's at least one (fairly popular with some sites) cross-platform streaming format that the MAC can use (and that at least some TV stations do in fact stream their broadcasts in). And while I'm sure RealPlayer video is one of the more common cross-platform video streaming formats on many web sites (including TV web sites), it isn't the only cross-platform video streaming format out there (QuickTime streaming is another moderately common cross-platform format, for example). So the point is, there are some TV stations that stream their TV in formats that the MAC can pick up and display. They may be a PITA to find each of those TV web sites (and weed out the ones that are Windows only video formats), but they are out there... |
