just2stoned : I'm using a Huawei EC228 wireless data card. I was going to try your tweak on mine but my connection speed is already at 2500-3000 on that little slider. I have no idea what you are talking about when you say Copy the value with before fragmenting??? What? The part where you select "modify all my network adapters" only my onboard NIC shows up in the list and not the EC228. So... I don't reckon this tweak will work for mine. This is what I get with my mother playing everquest 2 at the same time

--
Vista Ultimate 64bit, 4gb G.Skill DDR2 800mhz, Athlon X2 6400+ Black Edition, 2x Diamond HD3870 512mb DDR4 PCIe2.0 (xfire), 650w PSU, 2x 200gb HDD, Antec 900 Gaming Case

My tweaks to boost speed

anon : I been playing with my new alltel evdo setup for over a day now. Just tweaking and trying new things for hours on end. I think I'm finally done as I'm tired of restarting my computer for the millionth time.

Here is what I did on WinXP. I can't account for other computers so.. sorry.

Steps:
1] Place the modem in the best possible spot you can. I used a simple USB extension cable (didn't get ANY loss.. pure gain)
2] Run TCP Optimizer
3] Click "Largest MTU"
4] Copy the value with before fragmenting
5] Click "General Settings"
6] Click "Custom" check box
7] Paste MTU in the box
8] Click "Modify All My Network Adapters" check box
9] Change connection speed to 2500
10] Make sure "MTU Discovery" and "Selective ACKs" is YES
11] Set "Max Duplicate ACKs" to 2
12] Apply changes
13] Restart

This is all I've done and I've doubled my speeds. I've tried all other tweaks and they don't seam to do a darned thing. Even the 65536 TCP change.. doesn't help or hurt.

Also for people worried about games. Don't bother tweaking if you're fine with your download/browse speeds.

Games run off UDP not TCP. You have nothing to worry about. No tweak in the world is going to help your games. Purely dependent on the server you're connecting to.

All tweaks are just to increase browse speed and file downloads, etc. They will NOT help your games latency!

If anyone else has anymore tips of Alltel UM150 EVDO service please let us know.

Here's my test results:

Please note the high ping. That has NOTHING to do with any tweak. This is purely the tower and/or the server I'm connecting to.

I am unsure as to why my upload speed blows, but it could just be the server I'm uploading to. To many variables factor in for this to be a 100% accurate test, but you get the idea.
