Re: Slow Broadband Speeds

What speeds do you get off local test sites?

Hi. Ive just done 3 local??? speed tests:

My advertised Broadband speed is Tiscali Max 8mb.
The little flashing tv boxes in the system tray indicate 8.3Mbps.

Thanks

Those speed test show that you are testing at your advertised rate.

You are just getting slower results on the USA sites.

I don't see any issues here.

If my tests are good can you think of why I can only download at 130kb/s at 3am well outside peak times?

When I 1st upgraded I was getting 550-600kb/s at the same time of day.

Traffic ... your ISP does not have the bandwidth to handle the load ... the site is busy .... etc..

Where are you downloading from at 0300?

I mainly pay to download from legit film and music sites, as well as Uk based BBCi player and 4oD sites.

These have always been faster in the early hours of the morning.

You may want to try changing your RWIN to 124960 by using Dr.TCP, and see if that offers any improvement... Other than that, your settings are "Tweaked" about as best as possible.

The only other thing that you can do, is to contact your ISP, and see if they can investigate the issue.
