(repost) Looing for T1 in 28590

Original thread was here:
»Need T1 quote in 28590

I posted a message back in November of 2007, looking for a T1.

More or less I am putting out my feelers again for pricing.

I do have more info this time, as I now have a phone from Embarq, which is 252-756-80xx

Would like a fully managed solution, as I really don't want to get a router, and learn how to set it all up while I'm paying for the line to be working.

If it makes that much of a difference in the price, I would consider getting my own router, and not having them manage it.

I have lots of questions as well, about T1's and this type of service, but am not sure this is the correct place to be asking.

Will start a new topic later for those.

The price range is $300-350 and yes this is a residence.

Thanks much.

ps. Sorry to those who gave me quotes before, but so much time has passed, I figured it best to just post up again.

You will need to provide the service address for a true quote.

Alright, it seems no T1s are to be had around here for less than $400..

I'd like to open this up to everyone, and would like prices.

Again, this is a residence, and I guess that can be a problem.

Thanks.

$400 isnt bad for a smaller city, plus the fact that its a residence. Not gonna be easy to find anything cheaper.

No one has given me a $400 quote either, it was "about 400"

Still waiting for real quotes I could get if I am interested.

Oooo trade show... Yeah, my post is here, people will chime in when they can I figure. No rush, the money isn't burning a hole in my pocket. If I decide to do this, it will just be more waiting anyway. I don't think anything moves fast in this industry.

$428 with free install and no router.

$478 with $350 install and managed router solution.

This is provided that I can convince the provider to install residential. However, we won't know until we try.

Those are the prices for 3 yr terms. The particular provider that I've quoted doesn't go longer than 3 yr terms.

Also, just personal advice on my part.. Take it for what it is worth...

I would be very cautious of signing a contract for over 3 yrs. Even 3 yrs is pushing it.

With the way technology is adapting and prices changing, you very well could find yourself stuck in a long term contract paying way too much money and not being able to do anything about it.

Many providers provide that contract termination requires full payment or half payment of the remaning charges. This can be a huge chunk of change.

Thanks for that advice. I didn't realize I would be locked into the same price for X years. Now I am sort of rethinking the whole darn thing. I guess that is their whole point in wanting long term contracts, and why they give some discount if you sign one.

Most contracts I've been involved with, didn't lock you into the price, they just locked you into keeping the service. And even when I have been involved in those, I always got a clause if I moved out of the area, I would be let out of the contract entirely.

This gives me even more pause than the price. More to think about I guess.

This is one of the reasons for Qwest's policy not install T1 services into a residence. Family customers have different experiences and expectations compared to business customers. You would probably want to exit your business contract, too, if a wireless provider came to your area offering 2M down and up for $59/month. You've seen that $428 quote before, you know , and there are some serious early termination penalties if you don't complete the them.
