ANY IDEA why

friend called last night,am on his computer now, he could no longer boot up,nothing.
except seethewindows welcome icon screen,(couldn't get into safe mode NOTHING)

First thing I did was try to boot up, couldn't, FORMATED the dxxx thing,
then ran his 2002 compaq installation cd, got all computer back, shut down win firewal,& all security, installed Z/A firewall, then his AVG,GOT THE UPDATES,RAN an automatic startup boot scan, SHOWED NOTHING according to his AVG, so I un installed that & d/l & installed my AVAST A.V.and did same thing

and BOOM it (Avast) picked up & showed this,
(excat copy) have no idea what i am reading other then a trojan virus...

Sounds like classic format bleed through. ALWAYS use boot and nuke for re-works. ALWAYS !
